I never made my first post in the new users swction. I don’t care for introductions. I never made my first post on GYRC in the new users section, but I joined years before it was a requirement and never posted. I actually made my first post on GTRC nearly 5 years after joining in the Skyline discussion. I see it as pointless to make that first post in the new users section. Just posting and showing up to meets is the best way to go about it IMO. I’m not really stickler for this stuff I guess.
I think on some other sites I’ve been at, probably not car related, lock up their for sale section completely to members without at least 25 posts. I think it’s a good idea though, you aren’t really much of anything to the community if you’re just there scoping out stuff to buy…
I voted 20, but 25 is good too.

put it up mods
i say 30. Too many douche canoes making random shit ass threads in the classifieds.
Usually, on some forums, you are required to make more then 15 posts before you can even access the classifieds, let alone create a thread in it.
I’ve always seen it as a service to allow first time posters to put items up for sale in the FS section.

You have more products available for you to purchase.
i.e. You can find what you need on SON rather then searching 20 other forums/sites. -
First time posters have either really High or Low prices, making your offering more appealing or allowing you to purchase something cheap (maybe flipping it).
and
- First time posters usually suck at formatting (not pressing the enter key, for example), information and communication. This may direct would be buyers to your thread… especially if you can communicate, you win.
Also, there are a lot of first time posters who are site lurkers. They’d view the site but never post, or when we were more public, they’d view the site for years and never sign up. I don’t think they’re necessarily “active”, but they contribute in a subtle way… well, maybe.
I know of lurkers who go to meets and work on their 240’s and if they wanted to post on SON to sell some spare parts, by all means go right on ahead, they’re participating.
With respect to an enforced min post count, wouldn’t this just water down the content on the site? “lol…” We’d probably get a lot of needless waste and extra clicks in order to read the true drama.
These are just my thoughts.
I agree with Richard and the couple other people that say no count required…
If you set a minimum post requirement, people who want to sell stuff are just going to post whore all day long until they get the access.
Someone wants to sell stuff on here, let them. Especially if it’s something I’m looking for.
Just voted and it’s a split. 24 24 25 or something… thats pretty even out of 75-ish votes if you ask me…
