min. thread count.

i say that there’s a minimum thread count requirement before someone can post in the classified section. i’m just tired of new members with their first posts in the for sale section. gets kind of annoying after a while.

25 if they shit there first thread they wait until 100.

sure there are some people posting their (sometimes) crappy cars on post #1 with no introduction / barely any information given. if anyone has a problem with that, then dont waste your time viewing the thread. if it buggs you THAT much, simply dont open the link.

Not everyone who owns a 240 is a part of the “240 community,” and with that being said, just because the car being sold hasn’t been cum swapped between 10+ members on this forum and has no history, doesnt mean it has no credentials. Everyone has to start somewhere, and just because you start off by selling your car, doesnt make you a scammer.
Everyone has their own price range, and sometimes all people can afford is a 800$ s13, as opposed to a mint SR 240 that everyone knows on this forum.

I would think that everyone here is smart enough to know what they want to buy and what they dont. no one is forcing you to do anything. if there are any problems with FS threads, do yourself a favour and leave it to someone else who may find it useful instead of restricting people from posting their cars – is that not partly what this forum is for?? or are we just excluding newbies and passing around the same old cars that have been in the “240” community forever

hate to state the obvious. but if they’re starting off selling their car, well, how much do you figure they’ll be giving back to the community? and it’s not like i want a blood oath or anything. i just get tired of seeing all these kids with their first posts in the classified section. not even in the introduction thread like it’s supposed to. all i am proposing is something that will cut down on the people joining just to sell their stuff and nothing else. this isn’t kijiji. and honestly, if you can’t go 20 or 30 posts before selling something, well, i’d be questioning how much they plan on giving back to the community. i mean, come on, it’s only 20-30 posts.

twenty should be the min, i am a member on other forums that require a min of 25 posts to be able to post up in the f.s section, ths way you have to put into the group before you can utilizes its resources !!

farmer

i agree that this shouldnt be kijiji, but whats wrong with people just joining the forum for a quick sale? i mean, the way i see it is, if someone here buys that car and is happy with their purchase, isnt that best case scenario for them? and regardless of if the seller decided to keep coming on here or not, so long as the buyer is happy the forum has served its job.

and i know that other forums do this kinda stuff, and honestly u agree with you that it filteres out a lot of bullshit adds, but in some cases it just doesnt give people a chance. This may be more extreme, but when i tried joining an ae86 forum (because i was thinking of getting one) my account was rejected simply based on account info that i supplied. wtf is that?? i think people should have the freedom to post what they want, and if the posts are BS, then either take them down, or ignore them.

then again, 20 posts isnt too much to ask for i guess…just my opinion

you can either leave it the way it is now.

or you can have 20 bullshit posts all done in 5 minutes and then the fs thread.

just suck it up buttercup. not everyone gives a shit about the community.

If they really want to be part of our community they will post up some shit and if not they will just leave. Done deal

^^^ +1

chances are they’ll just try to post in the classifieds section, and not really think to make 20 b/s posts. i’m sure you’ll still get those guys, but it will also get rid of a bunch of the ones who have a 10 post count, all in the classifieds section, and then don’t come back once it’s sold.

I really don’t think it matters as much as some of you think it does. One more car to look at possibly buying that you might have missed if you didn’t check the right section of kijiji.

20 min post i think is a good idea ive seen alot of people on here once to sell there stuff once its gone/sold they never come back till they have other stuff to sell BUT, on the other hand its unfair to some of the newbs who are only just trying to get there first car and posting up wtb threads. i think the wtb and fs threads should be in a sub catagory in the wtb/fs classified this way your able to use the wtb section but not the fs section till you hit the minimum 20 post count before posting i think this seems more then fair no?..

i don’t have anything against someone looking for a car, but 20 posts isn’t that bad. if they’re serious about it, they’ll more than likely be looking into it and asking questions, no? so 20 posts isn’t something unattainable in the first day or two. then they can start their search for a new car. and it very well may save them some headaches in the end because they’ll know what to look for, ie- frame rails, side mirror rust, sunroof rust, etc.

Realistically, this will filter all new users who use SON for what it is best known for, classifieds.

Now whether you want to look at this from a utilitarian perpective or not, is entirely upto you. Either it’s everybody is weeded out, for the greater good, but you miss some good people/items. Or you keep everyone, deal with the BS, and have a few good people/items pop up.

I think there should be a requirement, this is a regional/community forum, not kijijijijijiji or craigslist.

I put 20 minimum down but I dunno sometimes people with no posts can bring more to the plate than others… we can lose a lot and gain very little

Then how about this.

30 posts and or a certain amount of time that the person has been a registered member. This way say we go joe blow over here who has 5 posts but had been on the forums for a year can post up fs threads while still being a constructive member. Straight up we get alot of guys coming in here trying to post up there cars or parts with no intro and no posts yet they get away with it and then peace.

Enough is enough

That’ll just lead to spamming until they get banned or quit. What if someones not into the community just came here to post a car sale add than gtfo? they have to spam first and besides they wont bother learning the rules before getting banned nor the idea and keep trying to make accounts. :expressionless:

I voted leave it the way it is

I haven’t been on this board all that long, and my experience with S13s/S14s is somewhat limited.

At the moment there is very little I could post that would be of value to the community, I have lots general fabrication and some racing experience but nothing Nissan specific. I am working on a project and will be posting about it a little further down the road once I get to the interesting parts but for now I trying to do is buy and sell part for my car so I can get to a point where I may be able to give something back.

A post requirement will stop the one timers from posting stuff for sale (which just offers more parts and cars up to the community anyway how is the bad exactly?), but you’re hurting a potential new members ability to learn or progress to a point where they might be able to contribute something back.

And isn’t the point of a community to grow and share with each other? I realise there is something to be said about quality over quantity but at the same point in time hurting your growth because you don’t like someone selling stuff seems sort of odd.

How many members of the older members here started out by simply buying or selling something? We’re you all 240sx guru’s and wealths of information when this board was first started?

On top of all of that wouldn’t the SONs sponsors be better supported by increasing exposure to them as much as possible?

Bleh sorry this became more of a rant then I anticipated. This poll kind of pissed me off a bit lol.

To me.

Regardless of; Age, Sex, Knowledge of anything car related, join date, and all that other jazz.

It is not right to take from a community and not give back.

Give, and you shall receive.

Regardless. The forums rules state that you MUST have your first post in the new user’s section.

As I see it. If you do not comply with that standard alone. GTFO! I will bash you or being a fool.

A mandat post count would be nice.

I would say 10 to open a general thread.
25 to open a FS thread.

So, no vote from me.
