The pulley was smooth sailing last time but I’m going to keep them in mind for more involved projects. Out of curiosity, do they do any tuning themselves?
Thumbs up
I don’t think they do, but they do LSD installs and clutches again cheaper than I have seen
@BREETIME got started on the new exhaust last night. This set up will consist of a 2.5" mid pipe that comes right off of the cat. It will split into a dual 2.5" rear section that bends around the battery box. I will have two Vibrant resonators that will sit near where the stock mufflers go. I had a few different options for tips but I believe I am going to stick with the two 3" straight tips like last time.
obx header?
No header at the moment. I know the stock one is very restrictive so I’ll get one in the future. That will put it into a new category of loud also.
top tip, use an OEM cat if you are putting a header on. They have yet to find an aftermarket cat that puts up with the heat these pig rich engines put out. The OBX wasn’t terribly loud FYI only got loud at higher RPMS under WOT conditions. I welded stock cat to it.
Good to know, thanks. I heard some good things about the Megan header despite the dirt cheap price. We’ll see what happens when the time comes.
Huge thanks to @BREETIME for working late and getting the exhaust finished up last night. It looks awesome and sounds perfect. It sounds better at WOT than my old set up and is just a touch quieter.
My older brother just bought a 05 S Vert in chili red/white stripes. 85k I showed him your thread…
as a side not what are common issues i should look for in a R53?
Honestly the '05/'06’s are pretty well sorted out. The earlier models had problems with the coolant overflow tank but they were upgraded 2005. Some people have problems with the PS fan freezing up and causing the steering to become heavy but this was also solved in later models. The upper engine mount is hydraulic and has a tendency to fail quite often but that’s an easy fix. Tell him to read up on sites like Northamericanmotoring.com and enjoy it!
What kinda power will this thing put down roughly? Also, what does it weigh?
It weighs about 2500lbs. This has almost no options so it’s as light as possible. My old car with just an intake made 192whp on Innovatives dyno right after they calibrated it. The pulley with an intake and exhaust usually brings in about 30whp from what I’ve read. Now that being said, almost everyone I’ve ever talked to has had to do much more work (cam, injectors, tune) to get into the mid 200’s. I obviously don’t have those yet so I really can’t guess a power figure. I only drove the old car a few times with the pulley before the accident and I can tell you that it was a night and day difference. It moved out quite well and I’m hoping to have the same results with this one.
Miata’s and 600’s for breakfast.
Sweet! We should be a good run then! Get it together mang.

We still have to line the old yellow girl up with your black beauty.
Saw that exhaust on @BREETIMEs IG… so hawt.
Also saw some POS white appliance Miata making noises @GV1390
Trying! We’ll set something up when the pulley is on.
250whp requires a big valve head. 200whp can be done with 15% pulley alone and tune but you are maxing out your injectors. Mine with intake, exhaust, 15% pulley, 450cc injectors, Newman cam and colder spark plugs put down 226whp. After that I put on a header but never retuned, I would say I got another 10whp out of the header it flowed better up top.
 you know how i feel here
Yeah I would like to go BVH in the future but the limited tuning options are depressing. Plus the amount of work and money needed for 250hp is crazy. It would rip though.
