A friend and I…we’ve been working on some homebrewing equiptment for the masses, and use this product we made when we host brewing demos.
Hell yeah, I was just in Milwaukee last week and had several Fat Tires. Also had Spotted Cow? Don’t remember what it was exactly but I know for sure it washes down 16 oz. steaks most excellently.
Side note: I was at a brew demo at Niagara Tradition and learned a fun fact about Milwaukee. Due to the soft water which lack the minerals of hard water, Milwaukee was able to excell at creating the watered down bland beer that so many people like. Strong marketing and sales pitches sold these lawnmowers beers to the masses back in the day…with Chicago being the biggest buyer.
BTW You guys need to make a trip to Pittsburgh to come to the Hofbrauhaus.
Fantastic brew, atmosphere and food.
Is it the same Hofbrauhaus as the one in Las Vegas? If so, I’ve been there and it’s awesome

mmmmmmmmmmmm
yes it is
Hell yeah, last time I was visiting some of my boys off of East Carson on South Side we took a spin out Hofbrauhaus. Good suds out there, some of the waitresses were top notch too
:edit: I just had a new microbrewery open down the street from me, Naked Dove Brewing. I love the logo already, lol
I’ll be in Kansas City this weekend, so I’ll see what they have out in the Power & Light District
Mike - lawnmower beers, que?
waitress at the hofbrauhaus (those 2 dudes we’re sitting at our table, don’t know them). She wasn’t really hot, but boy did she like letting those titties spill out.
oh, and me with my stein!
Mmmmmmm Fat Tire :yumyum:
I really wish it would make its way to NY.
Lawnmower beers = like having sex on a canoe… fucking close to water?
I’m heading to Pittsburgh in a few weeks for the Girl Talk show…will def hit up this Hofbrauhaus:tup:
MotoX…I like your answer, lol!!!
Lawnmower beer is a term to describe the type of beer you could drink like water while sitting in your riding lawnmower. In other words, a refreshment drink…lacking much character and taste, best served ice cold. Back in the day beer was pushed as a refreshment drink to the labor force in America…hence why so many jumped onto light bodied brews. Then marketing got their dirty hands on these beers and gave them a personality and made people believe their Miller Lite, Bud Light, Coors Light, etc. would further define them (party crowd, tough guy, ladies mane, etc.)
Go watch ‘Beer Wars’ if you haven’t…they go into great depth what I just touched upon:) It’s a great doc…and Sam Caligone from Dog Fish is featured:tup:
KC? You HAVE to go to Boulevard Brewing Co and do the tour! AMAZING beers. The tour is I think $2 and you get a bunch of samples.
I love KCMO, one of my favorite cities. Power & Light is a very cool place, too. I had quite the pathetic drunken mechanical bull ride at PBR.
I grabbed a six of Winter’s Bourbon Cask Ale while I was at Wegmans. It sucks kind of bad. Sort of a bourbon flavor, sort of a malty flavor, but it’s like they couldn’t pick which direction to go and it just kind of sucks.
So I looked at the label and saw “Michelob Brewing Co” and was like “Oh.”
my beer thing keeps going off.
Beer. Glorious, life balancing beer. By season.
Summer:
Sunshine Pils. Not watered down crap…actually a great traditional Pils that I love while the lawn tractor does its thing.
Fall:
Sam Adams Octoberfest: went through 2 1/2 bbls this year again, never ceases to be a crowd favorite for the early fall football games.
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale: just finished a 1/2 bbl of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Solid crowd pleaser for football games as well.
Winter:
Yeungling Black and Tan: the next bbl I’ll get.
Spring:
Sam Adams Noble Pils has earned the spot. Used to be Miller Lite, but I love the Noble Pils now. Could be a Maibock if a 1/2 becomes available.
The next 1/2 will be Sam Adams Boston Lager, unless the local distributor has something interesting. It’s the standby when something else is not available.
In non-keg form, I prefer:
Ommegang Hennepin in the 22 oz. bomber
Unibrowe La Fin Du Monde
So I hit up KC and all I got were these little beers  Next time I will go longer than a weekend.
Tank 7 - brewed in KC, never seen it (or heard of it) anywhere else. Really good though, hearty and hoppy. Started playing a Family Guy drinking game with these = a poor decision
I can’t remember what the little owl beer was. It was okay though. I will get some more from Beers of the World and play again.
Elephant wasn’t anything to go cheering about, but it was a good beer.
I love beer. It’s just that i’m too broke/cheap to drink anything good. I usually stick with Pabst Blue Ribbon, Miller High Life/High Life Light, Yuengling Lager or Premium, Straub Special Dark.
As for higher end, I liked some of the Troegs (when I got a sampler), Terrapin has a few I like, Sierra Nevada has a few I like, most of the Magic Hats are pretty good, Dogfishhead Punkin was delicious… but I can’t see myself drinking more than two of them.
I had one the other day that was really good. I forget what it was called. Flying Bitch or something to that effect.
Flying Dog - Raging Bitch. Sorta Belgian/IPA hybrid. Damn good. Strong. A bit fruity, but in a good way. Not Cherry wheat/various blueberry beer fruity.
Boulevard Brewing beers are not sold up here Tank 7 is very good, did you get to try anything else of theirs?
The owl one is Hitachino’s Nest, can’t remember which ‘flavor’ that design is, though.
No, that was the only one I tried, sadly The Tank was really good though.
I also had a Fat Tire with amazing BBQ from the original Oklahoma Joe’s:
