Whats wrong with that honestly? If you don’t live in Montana you shouldn’t be able to buy and bring back a gun from Montana.
If the drinking age in Montana was 18 and I was 18 but in Wisconsin its 21 I can’t buy the beer from Monatana cross the border and then tell a Wisconsin trooper “well its legal in Montana”.
And given the fact that these are weapons and not booze then Montana should make sure that only their citizenry can take advantage of it.
Seriously, if this is what Montana wants to do then fine, I’m sure they don’t have the gun crimes like other states do but I don’t want to see other people taking advantage of this law.
I agree people from another state should not be able to buy them there, but I feel the states should make the laws with gun sales to US citizens as far as buying them, not the government
yes and no…the fed thinks they need full control of it when its not there right…honestly its what u think like everything political/religious and not worth arguing about it over the internet…but i bet we will agree on a lot and disagree as well
Honestly my only beef with gun ownership is that no one should own automatic weapons and that handguns should require a waiting period while a background check is performed. It shouldn’t take longer than a month.
Montana is not resposible for other states laws.
People buy fireworks in some states and you just need to be 18. They don’t ask if they are legal in your homeland.
My point with the beer was that you need to show ID but that is about it. I am sure a 5 year old won’t be able to buy guns in Montana.
The Federal government has way over stepped it’s bounds according to a growing number of states. The whole reason for have states is so that people have choices but it seems the Feds think they should make more and more of the decisions.
Here’s a question I have to those state claiming that their sovereignty has been violated: When did these violations begin and why are you complaining now?
The Obama administration has only been in office for a little over 3 months and their are a number of states talking about session. And most of those states are Republican held.
What happened to the patriotism that was spoon fed to us for the last 10 years? If you don’t believe in the president you are anti-American, if you question gov’t policy you are anti-American. Now they are talking about secession? Thats the most anti-American thing you can do and its being led by paranoid Republicans!
The hypocrisy coming from the right these days to blame Obama and liberals for everything is astounding. Its honestly like they forgot the last 10 years on how they acted when in power.
YOU LOST! Its not the end of the world, pick yourselves back up and try again in the next elections, thats what the democrats did, they didn’t call for NY to secede or California to secede, they just worked on their image, called out the Republican failures and found good leadership for their party.
We tried that attitude under the Articles of Confederation. The country began to fall apart. The only way to have a union is to have a strong central government.
But again, whatever. Gun control laws are all a joke. Good for Montana if that’s what they want, but this cesession talk is a bunch of crap that has got to stop.
The weapons found in Mexico are NOT civilian weapons. They are ex-gov/military weapons that were sold to the Mexican gov originally. People are too stupid to ask why Mexico won’t release the serial numbers on the weapons confiscated.
You can NOT buy a full auto weapon in this country that was produced after, or not registered before 1986.
The worst bit of this, is that the federal gov is less restrictive than most states. The NRA has been fighting and winning battles against states that have more restrictive gun laws than the feds. The feds require little more than a piece of paper stating that you are not a drug user, not a felon, and not crazy… if you meet those requirements, then you can have a gun.
I think Montana picked the wrong topic to fight here.
The Constitution was designed to create a strong central government. Nearly everything that the Constitution points to that conclusion, from the supremacy of Congressional law to the Supreme Court. Hell even state creation is designed by the Federal government.

They are fighting intrastate commerce restrictions, but it could turn ugly. If they win, then the states will have the ability to tax more, and add more restrictions above and beyond what the feds have put in place.
