Montana gun legislation enacted

There are several reasons and Obama isn’t the only reason.
I don’t want to mention one or two reasons because the other 100 reasons will be “under recognized” if I may use that made up term. lol
There was a straw that broke the camel’s back. That straw was different things to different people.

I’d say they picked the perfect issue to test states rights on.

They needed an issue the left would be upset about.
-Check. “People are going to buy guns there and bring them to my communist state”. Sounds like the left is taking notice to me.

They needed an issue the citizens of their state would get behind 100%.
-Check. Flipping the left, from Huffington to Obama, the middle finger on gun control? Yeah, Montana will get behind that.

I’ll be grabbing my popcorn and watching how this plays out.

Sure, the ammo (:mamoru: ) is effective - but the precedents set on the specific issue (interstate commerce) could set off a huge windfall of bullshit legislation. I have no problem with the gun legislation itself, but the manner in which they (appear) to be going about it. Disclaimer: I’ve done no research yet.

So secession is the answer?

You think this might be a good idea until it sets the groundwork for states doing thing you don’t like. What if another state says they don’t need to listen to federal law either concerning guns and bans all guns?

Have you read the constitution? Start with #2, then jump to #10, and realize how stupid what you just posted is.

This is the ultimate thing. THEN YOU HAVE 50 CHOICES the way it should be, not one central government control. It is getting to the point where you have no choices.

DC does not want states leaving the union and Montana knows that. Maybe they are just using the same extortion tactics the feds use with highway money. They would hate to lose at a game they are experts in.

Hmm… this might become an issue if there’s a straw Montanan who decides to supply guns to people in other states. This is where the “interstate commerce” clause applies. If they track a gun used in Florida to a manufacturer in Montana, then the law’s toast.

Fuck Montana…I wouldn’t miss it!

Miss it? I would move there! lol I think Montana’s population would grow at an alarming rate.lol AND everyone would be armed:D

But the commerce clause doesn’t give the federal government any power over sales within the state.

“To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;”

The law Montana passed specifically names guns and ammunition made in Montana, do doubt to preempt a commerce clause challenge. As mentioned earlier as long as they require ID they shouldn’t be responsible if a Montana gun ends up in NY.

Stroked, the new admin and their cronies are the same people that put in place the last failed “Assult Weapons” ban. The have stated they want to put it back in place, but make it permanent this time.

Recently when asked about it they back peddled because career politicians know it would deal a death blow to their career to back one right now.

Do a search on the 1st ban. It was a test to see if it would lower the gun related crimes. The verdict?

It did nothing, and the weapons that were named in the ban weren’t even the ones being used in crimes.

The 2nd Amendment was supposed to give the citizens the ability to protect themselves and fight back against the government if the need arised. I think people forget how this nation was formed sometimes.

This is exactly how it works. If I went to TX and picked up a CZ-82 and brought it back here, by NYS law I would need to turn it in to the police. It would be held until I filled out the paperwork, and waited for my NY pistol permit.

On a side note, if you are applying for an NY permit, get a FL one to go with it. You will be able carry in almost all 50 states with those 2 permits.

States rights is interesting. It pretty much just makes red america redder and blue america bluer. The federal level is kind of a mix of red and blue policies right now, but I think you’d see half of america with legal gay marriage, at least marijuana, any-time abortions, etc. and the other half with abortion illegal, no gun control, public school prayer permitted, etc.

I’m moving to Montana.

Want a roommate?

Time to buy mtspeed.com

I wonder if this will skate around the '86 full auto ban?

I would love to legally build on of my STEN kits as full auto.

idk i kinda think i like the waiting period and forms filled out to buy guns
