Monticello "Turkey Run" Participants: 100 Cars Pulled Over

Well this isn’t good. Definitely a public relations problem… and if it wasn’t already totally ruled out before like MPD47 says, I’m sure Monticello isn’t going to EVER allow non-members on track again. :frowning:

State police officials said that 10 patrol officers pulled over some 100 cars and issued more than 30 tickets, some of them speeding tickets to drivers of Porsches, Corvettes, Vipers and BMWs going over 100 mph.

Lots of cars:

Shitty video from the run. Their were police escorts at one point… but obviously not all the cops were on the same page.

I doubt Monticello was ever going to be open to groups like us anyway so oh well. I’d say it doesn’t help with getting other tracks built but that’s not going to happen in NY anyway.

They were letting non member groups run there for a bit, but not after this year supposedly.

According to its Web site, Exoticsrally.com was organized to “gather a group of people together with the same interests involving cars, travel, driving, night life, and many more social events.”

In.

Figures that small-town fggt buzzkill cops would see a bunch of exotics and get dollar signs in their eyes.

But Joe, don’t you hate rich people?

No way, I will assist in redistribution of wealth by getting on their bar tabs

Probably would have been fine had the group kept things quiet. Blasting up rt.17 in a convoy of lambos doing 100+mph is going to get police attention.

LOL

I am also a strong supporter of trickle-down pussy. Not to mention, the SS would look much better towing a lambo to and from the track.

I honestly think this will have zero effect on (non member) rentals at MMC.

The vehicles were headed to the Monticello Motor Club, an exclusive race track, where the drivers had paid to take laps for charity. Club President said the motor club’s President Ari Straus said that each participant paid $100 per person to take a lead follow lap, following a pace car, as well as an additional $200 to take faster laps around the raceway.
Only those with track experience were allowed to pay for the additional laps, Straus said.
Straus said it was the first time the group, members of an Internet social club called Exoticsrally.com had used his track. Straus notified the organizers that speeding and other traffic law violations while getting to his track would result in expulsion from the facility.

A few people probably got told not to come back, but once they settle the issues mentioned in the other thread, I’m sure it’ll be business as usual.

A gang of cars were ripping down 17, many of them doing 100+ MPH. Obviously cops are going to stop them whether they’re driving exotics or minivans.

so where is this place?

lmlmgtfy?

45 minutes from NYC.

I loved every second of that first 5 min video  so many great sounds

The only thing that registered in my mind is “this is why you don’t let your 8 year old video a car meet”. OOOOOO A TRAIN!

that’s soooo Ving

Yeah, but you wouldn’t tell ving to video something like the Times Square run.
