Motorsports 101: FAQ's, Guides, Rules, ect. ect.

I thought there was already a FAQ section, no, well, I already made this one so…

In this region of NY there are more than enough outlets to excersize your car in a safe, controlled manner. I have been actively involved in autocross for the last four years, and been doing open track and road racing for the past two. The whole time I had wished I knew about it sooner. Hopefully I can bring that “sooner” to you.

First thing you should know is that you can do drag racing, autocross, rallycross, open track lapping, and even time trials in a stock, unmodified vehicle. And yes, it is fun even if you have a 100hp automatic car. It is also affordable, $25 for autocross, $50 for a 1/2 day to $120 for a full day of lapping. Don't be intimidated, all off us had our first time once in our lives. Always ask questions, there are people that will go out of their way to help you.

Nissan Performance Magazine has been doing this article for a while now. It follows this chick as she goes through the ins and outs of drag racing, autocross, club racing, getting licensed, driving schools, ect. ect.

But search through ALL the articles, there are some good points in each (some a little n00bish)…

My quick, quick tips for auto-x…

My quick, quick, quick track tip…

great post. thanks for putting the effort into organizing everything for the board. +reps

hopefully more speeders will take advantage of the knowledge and participate in whatever motorsport they are interested in.

good post  thanks for the links!

Go do them all.

I’ve found that Auto-X made me a much better, and also much more cautious driver on the street. I am able to react to situations with more confidence and precision because of an increased feel of the car.

Drag at the track is a good way to spend a night with friends. The drive out is fun, and sure beats getting a ticket and sitting in some sweaty ass court for a bunch of hours.

How is this thread a sticky with two random links:

If you really believe that you are really bad at picking up sarcasm, because I totally got you the first time, actually I got it when I first posted the question.

Didn’t you see the :stuck_out_tongue: ???
