I got 18" rims and I need to get my tires mounted and have them balanced.
I went to Kal Tire and they wanted 250$, i was like fuck that, it only cost 45$ to have the old tires removed from the same rims. so how does it cost 200$ to balance some tires?
anyone know a more reasonable place to get some tires mounted and balanced without having to worry to much about them coming back with a dent or massive scratch in the rim?
I went to OK Tire on 99street and 50ish avenue. They guys there were young, confident in their work, and appreciated a modded car. They mounted my 16s no problem, no scratches or anything. $20 a wheel for mounting and ballancing.
yah, kal tire is a joke, he said its just a standard $250 for any rim bigger then 18" in case they scratch it, they replace it. so they wanted to charge me a lot in case they fuck up.
Well, nitrogen is good in the winter simply because it won’t change pressure with temperature. But I think this is a scam because the air we breath is already 75% or so nitrogen so… Just a reason to charge more money IMO
if your going to nait still talk to one of the auto tech instructors and tell them you wanna learn. we mounted two of my buddies 18 inch tires on rims, balanced and did an alignment for free!
^haha i was actually thinking of asking one of them in the auto lab.
i already know how to mount my own tires, but not sure how to balance them.
i wonder if they would actually let me use their mounting machine, and teach me how to balance…
at the refinery i work at, we use nitrogen to flush out ammonia lines and stuff. i wonder if theres a tire gauge i can hook up to the nitrogen tank
oo man balancing is so easy… they got a good one at nait, all u have to do is look at the diagram and put a weight where it says or just refit the tire to the rim, there is balance points on the tire so it is soo easy…and any nitrogen tank will work as long as it has a iso hose with an iso fitting or whatever the fuck the other standard hose is with whatever the fuck the other standard fitting is.
mounting anything 17" + at my work costs more, thats about right for mounting 18" anything 40 series and under is not the same as mounting 15" 65 series tires, more risk of scratching the rim with smaller sidewalls, balancing tho is much easier.
remember to get centering hub rings if you need em, dont want any wobbles.
Bah, if you don’t rush you can do anything easy. I mount low pro’s on 20’s with a 12 year old mounter. If you scratch a rim your retarded. besides a good tire shop will have an assortment of rim gaurds anyways. The only difference in price is in the balancing. If its a big rim and low pro tire then its an extra $2 so you pay $15.00 for balancing.
