^ Your tv is a little to high, but it’s significantly lower than where Fry wants to mount his.
And to think I was worried I was going too high when I went up about 6" higher than the stand so my wall mount would leave room for the center channel. Mine looks like it’s on the floor compared to you guys.
Yes his would definitely be a bit higher than mine. Sitting in my recliner, I can look straight forward and not have to look up at all.
It depends very heavily on how close you will be sitting to the TV, if your couch is going to be 10’ or less than its going to be a bigger issue.
That majority of our seating is 15-17’ away from the TV…you can sit down comfortably and not strain your neck at all.
Yep. It’s going high. I was looking at it last night, settled on using a nice wire channel, painted to match the brick, and run it sideways to the drywall, where I will drop it down to the basement. You’ll still see the wireway, but it will be subtle. Should look just fine.

not for nothing, but mayeb you should have done something with the wood panneling before you hung the tv… like rip it down and replace it with drywall, but thats just me. maybe you like the 1970’s look
I think Fry will be fine at the height he wants and I think it enhances a brick facade, his room size looks to be perfect for that setup. I have always liked TV’s mounted above fireplaces, but it definitely needs to be in the right sized room, unfortunately my current house did not really facilitate that due to my fireplaces location.
i think it could look ok if mantle is removed or relocated, however that is a bit high imho for your fireplace fry. I do like some posted, however the ones i liked seam to be smaller fireplaces with out mantles.
Well I never have been one to listen to reason. Just spent way too much money on a 55" Samsung LED flat screen. It looks great. I’ll get it mounted soon. Gonna just find some small wireway and paint it to be as subtle as possible. I’ll post pics to egg the haters on when it’s done.
Ouch… I like my adjustable lamp. We installed it before I learned about the magic art if fish tape though and needed a lamp that could be powered from the switched outlet below. Now that you mention it though running a wire inside the wall sounds like a good project for this weekend.
Because 99 times out of 100 it is a horrible viewing position for the TV. Sure it looks nice when its off, but that generally isn’t why I have a TV.
Yes, there are situations where it doesn’t break necks, and yes, everyone that has one will defend it, but its usually a rotten place for the TV to be IMO.
Then again, most people have crappy viewing distances as well, usually paired with an over sized TV for a couch that is too close.
