What do you guys think about mr2 spyders? I have been looking into them a little, and if i sell my car i thought it would e a nice alternative car. They are nice looking and convertible, rwd, good handling, but only 138 hp. i looked up the 0-60 and 1/4 times, and they were said to be 6.9 and 15.7 i believe, which isnt too bad. what do you guys think about these cars? worth buying one?
I think they are fucking gay.
where is burnyd, he’ll come in and say their cool cars, look like some 500k+ car and still performs like one too for .1% of the price. :jerkit:
kinda, im kinda borderline if I like these cars or not… I would definately not buy one especially at what they retail at.
I think they look extremely gay stock / 40 year old mom car.
they handle great and can turn on a dime… there really good autox cars. If your looking for a 1/4mile car or something that goes fast this is not the car for you. Also there seqential trannys kinda of ghey… the motor in it depending on what year you get 00-03 has a terrible issue with the rings that will starve the motor of oil and eventually blow up I would not suggest you purchase a model between those years.
They can go fast with a 2zzge swap but that will cost you big bucks for that and it kind of gets rid of the whole daily driver. I would also not suggest getting this car as a Daly driven car as there the smallest of any MR2 out there… sorry to put you off tot hese cars I just really dont like them.
haha, not really they look decent with widebody kits but there not that great of a vehicle honestly.
so basically what your saying is, its another toyota that sucks
fuck your 2zzzzzge swap put in a real motor they make mounts for a K20
okkk ill call your mommy for a down payment seems to work for you…
oooouch
haha well thanks for the input. i founf an 01 in ohio for a pretty good price, so i wanted to see what you guys thought. it would only be a summer car for me anyway since i will be in college and dont plan on taking it to school.
i wouldnt pay that much and im assuming i could get it down a little since its a dealership. i think it looks pretty clean, has a nice lip on it. i odnt mind the rims, but they are motegis so would most likely be changed.
id drive one, much less gay than a 350z, del sol, miata,240, v6 vert mustang
rims make it look cheap but otherwise i actually like it
yeah i thought the same thing. its not much slower then a stock auto prelude, so i dont think i would notice anything anyway. does anyone know how much or little the engine performance would change with minor bolt ons, like I/H/E?
I never liked them that much… But with the optional hardtop that you can no longer get from Japan it’s even less appealing. The car standard looks liike a ‘chick’ car, which is basically is from the factory. But, it does have potential, and there are some fairly cheap turbo or supercharger kits for it.
The look of the car completely changes for the better with the hardtop and some better rims. Probably need the widebody kit for it too… just too much work… and not practical around here once you get into all that stuff, unless you want it for a weekend car.
The car stock is really really plain/basic, and gay for the most part. But, the owners of them, would say that they are the best of any of the previous MR2’s.
This is honestly not the best place to get honest answers about the car.
i started looking at some mr2 and mrS forums, but they are all obviously going to be one-sided, so i dont really know where else to look. i like the way they look with a nice lip kit and set of rims, just not sure about responsiveness to mods or what the transmission is like or anything like that. It is pretty weak for a sports car, and i definitely dont have the money right now for a swap, but could get some bolt ons to try to increase performance a little, but if it isnt very responsive to the bolt-ons then it isnt really worth it to me.
does anyone on here own one of these cars?
you would probably find out how it responds to mods on spyderchat.
But, in all honestly… it can’t be that great unless you supercharger, or turbo charge it… which it sounds like you are not going to do…
Plus I’d be a little weary or whatever of someone who buys Motegi’s,and also curbs the crap out of them…
well i/h/e wont get you real far… only way to make power on a 1zz is through boost. 2zz swap is the way to go.
Nice cars for what they are. Handle better stock than some cars ever will modified. I’ve driven them in stock form a few times and liked them. Kinda small but very light. Power was decent it felt like it could pull a quarter mile somewhere in the 15’s without any problem. There is one locally with a celica GTS (2zz?) swap that runs autox, he loves the car. Also saw one at nationals with a Camry V6 in the back, THAT was a cool swap. As far as looks its whatever floats your boat. Honestly I think a nice set of wheels and a drop is fine. Alot of the body kits seem to be cartoonish.
12K for a car with 75K miles on the ODO and a gay fiberglass bumper that fits like crap and is probably only on the car because it was previously wrecked… no thank you
yeah ive heard of both of those swaps. i did a little research and those cars can really move when swapped, but i wouldnt have the funds to do so. the camry v6 swap is pretty awsome in that car. it is supposed to be stock 15.7 1/4 mile btw.
and gtlaw
i actually like the front bumper on that, and the lip kit on it. i think a lip looks a lot better then a body kit. the rims arent in too good of shape, but they could be pretty old so you never know. the vehicle has never had an accident reported. and i would not pay 12k for that, as i already stated in my first post. If i couldnt get it for what i wanted, then i wouldnt get it. its not something im going to lose sleep over. i just think its a nice little car with good handling and potential.
i think im going to call the dealership today and see whats going on
look how crappy it fits in the wheel well
I don’t think thats just a lip kit it looks like a cheap fiberglass body kit to me
