My 1965 Nova II- 8.85@153.5 - Turbo kit FS

Living the goddamn dream, Drew.

So I guess pics have been awhile. To summarize where im at. Rear end is all together, studs, disc conversion etc. Turbo kit is well under way. Car should be done before the snow melts i hope.

Not quite ready for weld wars but I will work on it haha

Here are a few pics. Fabrication is hard. Many lessons learned but feel pretty damn good right now.

First let me introduce you to a 408 stroker. 11.5:1 comp with CNC ported LS3 heads. Got a steal on it in pieces and tossed it together. Should be pretty rad in something?

Ok so back to the nova. Welding v-bands on cast. Interesting process. I made two passes using 309 filler.

Rear end all together. Studs, rebuild, new gear, bearings, disc conversion etc etc

Yeah lets put a turbo there

Downpipe

Done for today. I move like a snail.

Part of the trans mount im making. Should have taken more pics. I welded stainless to mild using 309 filler.

Welds look great, and you didn’t even need photoshop!.. Weld my shit up after I tack it

I would be happy if that were on my car. Looks good enough for me ! Nice work so far.

Great looking welds! I’d be more than happy if I could weld that good! Expensive machine?

Looking good.

Don’t get me in the middle of weld wars!

Me too. Thanks.

Miller Diversion 180

Thanks!

coming along nice mang

As with most builds when all is said and done it would take 10x longer without friends helping out. Thanks a ton guys. Once finished in April?we are having a party at my house.

Just don’t let the cats out.

Looks like foil at the ends of the tuning? What’s that for?

I used a foil backed tape I had to setup the purge line. This makes a controlled atmosphere for the penetration side of the weld as well. Basically the same reason you use gas at the torch on the inside. I can take a pic but it makes the weld puddle easier to control, welds look nicer, and the inside of the pipe is nice and smooth after.

If you look at the first downpipe pic the one end of the pipe has a gas line running into it with tape on it. Other end has tape over it and a few holes poked in it.

cant wait to see this thing ripping

What do you purge nitrogen in it?

Hopefully that rear disc conversion went better than the Camaro

I won’t know. I offically dont bleed brakes or troubleshoot them haha. Pat(psychopjv) makes it all better for me.

Were you drinking when you welded that?

I don’t think I’ve ever welded sober…

Ditto.
