Nice work!!!

3:00 PM - Started pulling accessories
5:00 PM - Turbo kit was pulled
11:30 PM - Motor out and disassembled

Nice work Bro

Today was a riot. Everything out and taken apart. I can’t believe the entire motor look mint aside from the bent rods. Pistons, bearings, plugs, combustion chamber all look excellent.

You have to stare so hard at them to even realize they’re bent. V8 things

6/8 ain’t bad…

Time for a set of rods and repeat

I’m glad to hear it wasn’t more serious. Did you ever find out if this was the earlier engine since they are more prone to bend rods?

For comparison gen iv on left

I will likely do forged rods/pistons but need to get the block/crank checked out first. Everything looks excellent but just to be sure

Thanks! Hopefully I can reuse block/crank
They are the later Gen 4 rods motor still ran fine was just making a lot of noise which looks to be the 1-2 bent far enough to run into the pistons on the wrist pin.

So with bent rods, and all else possibly being ok, did the engine just run like it was out of balance? I could see how timing / ignition / and harmonics all being off just enough to give it a rough idle and pretty much unable to rev. Or did it shut down on it’s own?

EDIT: …and your edit just answered my question as I posted.

Yeah engine ran real smooth still. You could just hear a pretty loud ticking. Oil pressure was 40+ and idle rev was smooth.

Should have just left the cut outs open to cover up the ticking, save yourself all this tear down:)

So you think it over reved or you had knock?

They’re stock rods lol
