My 1965 Nova II- 8.85@153.5 - Turbo kit FS

LS9 gaskets on this build?

Yes

Well last night wasn’t productive at all. Went to install the intake manifold and 1 - it doesnt sit quite flush and 2 - I broke a bolt off into the head. :fu:

:frowning:

What do you think is the problem with the intake not lining up? Heads shaved?

Yes it is because they were decked. Being as the heads/intake came from a running car the guy must have had a vac leak and didnt know/care. Anyhow I drilled out the bushing holes that line up the intake and it fits now. The damaged LS3 head needs a helicoil. But i think im just going to put it all back together with my 317 heads.

If any NA/Nitrous guys local want a full LS3 top end I will make a killer deal. Id rather buy some 6 bolt aftermarket heads.

@Minglor

@Minglor cant handle these :slight_smile:

LS3 heads won’t work on LS1. Bore is too small.
Otherwise I’d grab them.

Well goes to show how much I know about the LS platform

I had to google it…

Heads are back off and after seeing how much alum shavings got in there I pulled all of the lifters, cam, oil pan and am cleaning the inside of the motor 100% before it goes back together again.

Still not sure which heads will go back on. Shaved heads can lead to head gasket problems on real high boost applications as I intend to run. But I might give it a try anyhow and just see what I end up with.

Well it was an exciting weekend and I finally have the new motor and trans back in the car. I still have my concerns with these heads but if they turn out to be an issue I will pull them off and go back to my stock 317s and LS6 intake combo.

So heads were off and we had to helicoil one thread. We thoroughly cleaned the motor/lifters before it went back together. What a mess this was.

Ok so once that was sorted it came time for the trans. Changed everything over for the shifter, tailshaft, fittings, scattershield, new ultrabell housing, mount, etc.

[sarcasm]Making things snazzy for when I get sick of breaking everything and make it a show car [/sarcasm]

To wrap it up. Instagram straight flexing… many beers and whiskey were had. New motor/trans in their home. Old motor and trans both to be rebuilt by yours truly and we will see where they end up…

So much awesome and zero fucking around, I like it.

Thanks! Took way longer than expected due to the fact that I travel too much and these heads were a pain in the ass. Hoping to get it pretty much wrapped up in the next 4-6 weeks? Nothing major from here just some small upgrades.

Once done I might start considering some options for the 69 Camaro.
