Man this thing is fighting me. Almost ready to fire. At some point this winter I will be changing fuel pumps, turbo, and making a new cold side. But I wanted to get it running so I could move it sokmewhere else and work on the maro for a bit.

car is nasty, call me old fashioned but 317 head just work… I make more peak power out of my 408 with 317s then my 418 with lsa heads. :-/

Everything is either powder coated or painted. I think that is what you were asking?

I 100% regret going to the 823(LS3) heads. But I guess we will see how they hold up from here since they are already on. If we get a nice enough day I will go dyno it.

yeah if I had to do it over again, I would have went with a 6 bolt head or just some AFR245 or similar for my 418.

When I get around to doing an LSx swapped muscle car it will be a 427lsx block, 6 bolt heads and a single 100mm turbo coupled to a 4l80e maybe a 6l80e if I feel they can make one to hold up. Run a new truck ECU with flex fuel sensor so I can easily make 1400whp on e85 with the AC on and my wife can drive it.

I like this plan. I was debating going up to a S500 series and going for 1200+ rwhp but I upgraded to the S484 and will give the S400 chassis one more shot. Next motor for me will likely be a aftermarket block with 6 bolt heads as well.

In all reality you need a 6 bolt head to comfortable handle 1000+ whp with any expectation of life. You can push 1000+ on a 4 bolt head, but you WILL eventually need head gaskets and /or eventually have issues. I want a set up I can put 30K miles on and will kick ass everyday.

I will make the switch when its an issue for me. So far I have never had issues with pushing water/blowing gaskets. Assuming these LS3 heads might im going back to a 317 head in that event. Im sure I was around 1khp last year with them.
