So I’ve been here a little while and decided to start the build thread on my G8. It is/will be fairly pic heavy. I bought the car in April of 2011 with 26k on it’s clock for $26,099. So far the car has BMR Sub Frame Connectors, BMR Sway Bars, BMR Driveshaft Tunnel Brace, BMR Strut Tower Brace, She’s beed dropped 2" in front and about 1" in the rear on Pedders XA Supercar Coilovers. The motor has been warmed over a little with a Roto-Fab Carbon Fiber(not really :/) Cold Air, Kooks Long Tubes 1 7/8" Primaries and 3" collectors, Kooks high flow catted 3" X pipe, Pypes Violator axle backs, Vector MS heat soak kit, and dyno tuned by Vector MS 412rwhp 430rwtq. The numbers are a little high for a stock valvetrain but it may have one of the bazillion DOD cams available for these cars. Next spring I’m planning on a non DOD blower cam and better heads then a Procharger D1SC. Once the blower, cam, and heads are done I’m going to save my money for a 6MT swap and an LS7 to go through and drop in. Well heres the pics, feel free to ask questions and give input.

She’s also been stripped of all the Pontiac and G8 badges(they’re in a plastic bag) and now wears a Holden badge on the trunk, I also forgot to mention the wheels, they are ADV1 ADV10 TF 3 piece in 19X8 and 19X10 wrapeed in 245/40/ZR19 and 285/35/ZR19 BFG G-Force T/A KDW2’s
I’m not a fan of color/polished wheels either but pics do these no justice, the black/polished flows well with the car since everything thats black on it has some kind of chrome or stainless trim. Thanks for the compliment

Also anyone use Prosport gauges? I have there Boost and fuel PSI stepper units and will be picking up AF/R soon and was curious what other people experiences with them are
Looks good. I’d stick with the block that is in the car over getting an LS7. If you forge it and turn it into a 402-418 with the blower it’ll be a beast!
Also I’m guessing its the 6 speed auto, which is a great trans. Keep the auto just toss in a 3600 stall and some beefier parts, you’ll love driving it all over again.
Ultra all G8 GT’s are automatics, a few of the 1829 GXP’s that were imported have the TR6060 6 speed MT. I chose the LS7 because of its oil squirters, I do play around at the strip but I mainly run around the curves and having the oil squirters would be a big benefit in the long run. I know the 6L80E thats in it is a good trans but still not quite the same as having a clutch and a top loader MT.
mistero I’d recommend this car to anyone but before you buy one ask for the service record and make sure the one youre buying has had the front control arms changed out for the upgraded ones as well as the lifters for the DOD system as they are well known for pooping out and sometimes taking the motor with it. Other than that they are great cars, fast, comfortable, spacious, and get pretty good mileage, plus the cool factor of pulling up to a pump and having people go “WTF is that?”

Also I’ve chose the Procharger mainly because Vortech never released a kit for them, the Ausy’s have their own home grown kits for them but I havent been able to get any pricing and shipping quotes to get one here. And if I run a maggie I will have to drop the STB and thats something I dont want to do

And for those who dig these cars I will have a gopro stuck on her this summer, I have a fat headed big mouthed DSM owner who thinks his “400whp” GST eclipse is gonna ruin my day at the strip
Eh like I said the pics I have dont do them justice, I went for a simple outwardly appearance. definitely going for the “more than meets the eye” approach. Honestly with so many wheel choices these days it’s hard to choose, I went with these based on 100% U.S. made, lightweight forged materials, multi piece, and they look killer in person

I’m hoping this upcoming season I’ll get to meet some of you from this board
Newman…duly noted but both the things you dont like I do so…pound salt
Ultra the LS7 would be cammed and the Procharger would get stuffed on it, but I’ve also considered just building the L76/LS2 thats in it decisions decisions
Personally, I wouldn’t waste the $$ on the LS7… you can build a monster of a motor with what you have in there now. Or even better than either of those options…Grab a RHS block and boost the fucker to the moon.
