I know a little bit of LS motors; there’s a few other guys on here that know LS motors so well I look like I know nothing. I’ve just been doing a lot of research, planning, investigating, etc for my build/swap to a LS motor.
Whats Prosports?
The LS7 has weak cylinder walls, so I wouldn’t boost an LS7! They have history of cracking walls with just heads/cam set ups. Like I said the L76 is MORE then capable, plus the LS3 style heads are really nice as is.
I’d remove all the DOD, phasing and the shitty lifters. Drop in some caddy lifters, a sweet blower cam and a double roller. Then swap in a 3200 stall and some beefier trans parts. You’ll probably have a solid low 12s car at this point if you can hook up. Then add boost and run 11’s all day long on pump gas, maybe 10’s with race fuel.
Car looks great! Not really my style of car, but they’re pretty cool anyways…and you do clean work.
i have had 3 sets of prosports boost, fuel press, oil temp, oil press, water temp.
only had one take a shit on me and they replaced it for free. all mine are 4 years old and still work great
Thanks 02Nismo, I know my way around an LS pretty well, just never really bothered looking at the LS7 closely, just new it has lots of titanium goodies in it. Travisn that pic was taken at about 70-75mph and just turned out that way, I thought it was a neat shot.
Got my pricing on a D1SC kit with a 3 row IC less tuning @ $6500 shipped, gonna run that till my internals go poop. Made the choice to scrap the LS7 idea and reuse my block when the time comes and build a forged/billet 430 and go up to an F1A with a 5 row IC

Ultra, all the DOD garbage was shut off long ago, just mechanical bits that need to be tossed. With a CAI, Axle Back Exhaust, and a Superchips Cortex I ran a 13.3@109 on stock tires. I’m hoping mid to high 12’s now. And Prosport is a brand of gauge, the ones with the needle flicking ceremony on start up.

Although if I look at JT76’s thread much more I may just say to hell with waiting for things to go boom and get an RHS, LSX, or a GM R series block and go banana’s lol
I’m doing mine in stages, but ultimately the goal is something like JT76; but with Twin TC76 units… and rwhp well north of 4 digit hp numbers!
Gotta crawl before you can walk, and walk before you can run; thus how my build is being done.
I’m taking a similar approach, heads, cam, D1SC on the L76, then new block, low comp 430 and F1A shooting for 1K+ whp
I wouldn’t go with a 430 on the L76 block. Try to stick with the 4" stroker crank aka 402. You can still get 700+ hp out of that all day long. Pistons tend to get sketchy when the stroke goes up much more. If you want bigger cubes just buy an LSx block and go from there. Even most big HP guys do a 427 LSx 6 bolt head. Can make well over 2000hp with that set up.
I have a 800whp+ 408 in my trans am, a and a :snky: 418 in my C5.
Ultra I’ll be buying another block for the build, giving RHS serious thought, decent prices and I’ve been reading good things about their products
RHS makes a great product. If you want big cubes get their tall deck block, but keep in mind you’l have to do a little exhaust work as the heads will sit higher then normal.
With all the money you’re going to dump in this car why not get another track dedicated toy? the blower on the G8 will be fast, just build a fbody or something haha.
I’ve had several built and boosted F cars, I’m just doing something different, a literal summer dd/fun at the track car
cool cool!
How is the interior on this? I’ve always wanted one but I am not that rich to be buying a new GM car that isn’t a chevy sonic lol
The interior has a very euro feel to it, very comparable to the Audi it replaced
Does anyone know of any good upholstery shops here in northern NY? I want to have a couple alterations done to my seats
The oil squirters are aimed at the bottom of the pistons and cool the piston. With aftermarket forged pistons it would be a waste and not needed unless you are running the Texas mile back to back runs. The LS7 isn’t a great block for boost either. Stick with a 4.000-4.065 bore with a stock 3.622 stroke. You don’t need monster cubes to make big hp with a procharger. A 370 cu.in a D1SC is plenty to make over 700 rwhp
If you’re in the engine replacing stuff I don’t see why you wouldn’t go with a 4" or. 3.9" crank. My old 408 set up with twins is pushing 950+ hp in a tt vette. Prolly has 35k miles on it now.
The only things in and on the L76 that’s getting replaced is the heads, cam, and valvetrain. Plan is to get to roughly 600 wheel with the L76 and D1SC, then build a monster starting with an RHS block(wanna still drive it while new motor is still being built)
If you don’t plan on 1500+ rwhp I would say the RHS block is a waste of money. You can easily make 1000 rwhp with the block you have and if you want a little extra insurance pickup an 6.0L iron Gen IV block
No go on the iron block, too heavy, the power level I’m looking for is 1000+whp when all is said and done

Also don’t wanna worry about it grenading every time I put my foot in it weather on a track, strip, or crushing some clown on the street
