My 2012 Stryker... an on-going project update.

Over the weekend I ran a vendor booth at the Rockland County Mega Meet. I drove the car and Drew took my bike. Since a naked bike SUCKS for long periods on the highway we decided to find a way to throw the windshield from his Honda Shadow bobber project on there just for the ride. We rigged it up quick and it worked great. Oddly enough it actually didn’t look too bad on there either. So I decided to come up with an actual mounting solution for it to use it until I can afford the $800+ front windshield / fairing I want for it.

I drilled out a couple factory brackets (cable guides) to hold the upper supports for the windshield:

At work I found a perfect piece of 2 x 2 x 1/4" aluminum angle stock and cut it up as needed for the lower mount. It was ‘fabricated’ using a hack saw, cutoff grinder, dyna file, and a hand file so it’s not perfect. I’d love to have a CNC waterjet… yea…:

I also painted the lower section of the windshield to make it appear more of a fairing / windshield than a full size windshield. It isn’t perfect, and the lines don’t match exactly, but for a total cost of $0 it was well worth the effort until I can afford the one I want.

It is not a permanent mount and comes off in under a minute (4 bolts) and is really only going to be used on longer rides but it is quite nice for riding on the highway. I can wear my half shell without the constant pounding in my ears from the wind.

Put her all back together just in time for Indy (leaving Wednesday night). Upgrades include: New hand-made bar risers, powder-coated bars, powder-coated upper and lower triple tree, re-mounted GPS (for a cleaner look), and re-routed cables to clean up the front end a bit. Another awesome job by Mike at CRC with the powder-coating!

Black bars are way better. Both my bikes have black bars. Looks cleaner
