my 71 honda cb350 bobber build......(finished pics pg 7)

ugh, well as some of you may know i am having some serious ignition misfire problems and inconsistencies. Apparently you can no longer find replacement coils for old vintage hondas such as mine so i will be converting to yamaha xs650 coils and wires with some non resister plug boots. we shall see if the constant misfire goes away.:frowning: i was expecting to be burning the tire off by now.:frowning:

new bars on yet??

nah, my sole focus lately has been getting this thing running right, then i will play with the bars. No sense in having the bars on if i cant even ride it.

jets came in yesterday. Now i just need to get my damn coils so i can continue this journey to smokey tire burnouts.

also i had issues with the rod i bent up for the gear selecter, so im gunna have to fab up another one quick and get it on there so shifting is a little easier.

how is the right turn WOT mod going?

lol, that has been addressed already.

ok, had a slight scare the other day. Couldnt get any combustion on right side. spark and everything is there, just wouldnt fire. So i decided to check the compression in the right side and i had 60psi.:frowning: then the left side had 155ish. So i decided to check the valve lash and it was a little tight but still not the issue. I then began to assume the worse and decided to poor some oil in the cylinder to see if it brings up the psi’s. No luck, i think it actually got worse. So i decided that it couldnt be the compression, just didnt add up.

I then put the right side to TDC and poor in a ton of gas into the intake. I then flashed a light into the cylinder and sure enough the cylinder began to fill with gas.:frowning: so i either had a bent valve or shit in the seat. I decided to keep flushing the intake out and i blew about 135psi+ air back through about 5 times. I then decided to recheck the compression and i had about 155-160 in the right. so now i have compression and all new ignition componants.

I took the bike for a tear today and it pulls realy strong. Timing is still off by a bit, so ill have to play with the points some, but for now it runs. Its probably burnout ready for sure.

 good stuff! im gettin close myself on mine…I’ll have to take some pics and make an update, but my camera blows

lol, i just use my cell phone. good enough for me.

looks good man

all this bike talk is making me itch like a crackhead needing a hit

cool project, loose the boots, clean up the engine, and fill that huge gap in the frame with something.

Not my cup of tea, but I always like a fun project… cant wait to hear how you like it after you log some miles on it.

already lost the boots, already cleaned up the engine, not much i can do about the gap. it is a bobber style bike afterall.

i took it out for a tear but im having minor carb issues. foulin out plugs at idle and fun stuff like that.

do a “cut”…do a hard rip in like 3rd gear, and then right when you get it up there in the rpms toss it in neutral and kill the engine and coast to a stop. pull the plugs and inspect for rich or lean condition and adjust your carbs based on that.

did you swap the jets yet?

damn i missed this!..
looks pretty cool mang

i already jetted the carbs. wide open isnt the issue. idle is the issue. I think i need to clean the carbs better. When i turn in the mixture screw all the way on both sides nothing realy happens.

I dig this thing from the rear view.

did you only change the mains? or the slow jets too?

I only changed the mains. im getting full rich with mixture screws turned all the way in which should be full lean and die. however my bike runs best this way. i need to get the timing squared up first before i try messing with the carbs again.

what size mains did you toss in?

That’s one nasty looking bike. Good work
