My budget BMW "320T" Build.....SR

I figured that i should show my project that I’ve been busy with for 3 months after so much work on a very tight budget…
1984 bmw 318i
this is when i first got the car… and yes that is factory height with the motor still in it

after coilovers and rims

pulling the old junk out

engine out and got to see how filthy the engine bay really was

and with a little degreaser and scrubbing

the new rad came in aswell

intercooler

new gas tank for the walbro 255

and some other stuff as well

and the sr came too

setting up for primer

first coat of primer

and the flat black

put the motor in the next night with some mounts made by some guy in thailand i thought i would have to modify them but…surprisingly they were perfect!!!

a common issue for those guys who have already done this swap steering knuckle hits the o2 hosing

had to cut the firewall and move the steering over one iinch with some slim knuckles and 3?4 steel rod… sorry no pics of this part

the mounts were 1/4 inch steel

motor in position

and finally starting it up with some sputtering
this is a video

as it sits right now with everything done

still got to make the drive shaft… hopefully this weekend!!!

Looks great so far!

Sic build looks neat! Keep up the work

smart move with the new e test laws, was the swap alot more work then putting it into a 240? labor cost wise?

Thanks guys

Yea no emissions for me because the car is older than 25 years. Mounts were extra… Labor I did my self so just the matter of moving some things around and wiring ( which I have alot of experience in)… The rest were upgrades that I would have done even if I had a 240… Having the mounts make it very feasible.

i see very cool. car looks brand spanking new

props on a clean build.

I always liked how sr20 fits under that hood and all possibilities for cooling setups.

Looks good Maz, we’ll see you in the summer.

gotta get my buddy to do this to his 325i…sick build man

very nicely done!! can’t wait to see her in action!!

so i finally got the driveshaft in and put it in on friday… took it for a short drive and it did not disappoint
