My Build Thread LS1/FD Its Fast!

doing a set of rack mounted coils vs valve cover mounted?

I am putting them under the dash! Downpipe was in the way :frowning: I dont think I actually checked post fab haha but I think it will be way cleaner looking this way.

Also I am calling you nowwwww

IDK if I would mount them under the dash… that’s a LOT of EMF in an area loaded with controllers and controller wiring. It might not be an issue now, but if you ever install a standalone or sensitive monitoring items, it is not going to work correctly.

FU Dan none of my controllers and shit are under dash anymore. Unless you are worried about then screwing with gauges or something. Anyhow that is where they are going. Suck it. You dont know shit! haha

My ecu and related parts are further away from the coils in this setup then they were from the factory in an f-body.

CAGE!
WELD!
NOW!

I’d mount them to the bottom of the steering column so they’re next to his cell phone, so there’s even more emf next to Drew’s junk.

Fuck it ill just mount them to my junk!

I cant hold the hoop and shit myself while welding. I need MOAR HANDS! Srsly

So yesterday around 5 I finish with my daily adult like stuff and make my way to the garage trying to get some of this cage fitted and tacked in by myself. What a whore. Soon as I just got the bottoms of the main hoop to the perfect angles to tack it in Joe Foureyed saves the day and shoots me a text seeing what im up to. Thank god cause let me tell you trying to hold the hoop and weld it would have been a bitch. Anyhow from the moment Joe got there the extra hands were great and I was able to make big time progress. All parts in the pic are fitted and tacked ready for final welding. Only think left is the door bars and installing the removable door bar kit…then final welding the entire thing. PS I dont know if I have ever used an angle grinder so much in one day!

drew, not sure if i mentioned this lready, but make sure you cover the glass so that you dont pit it with the weld.

after doing some fab work here and there, it make you feel like you can do ANYTHING with an angle grinder.

Looks good!
I’m free after 4 for a bit, If you need any more handers lmk

Pffft I could deff build a house with an angle grinder. haha

Fab work is very gratifying and I do enjoy it for the most part. Thanks for the tip John I will make sure…I still might wuss out and coax you into the finish welding of this thing once I have it all fitted.

Awesome build, I’m mad jelly.

wtf joe was supposed to help me!!!

trader

 Glad I could help, It came out really nice.

Yeah some of the spots were kinda difficult to weld.

Decided last min to invite a bunch of people over to hang/drink beer/eat pizza and wings. Had a ton of fun today while getting a bunch of work done. It was great seeing everyone!

Pics coming in a few.
