My Build Thread LS1/FD Its Fast!

It is coming home Thursday! Shoot me a text.

Ok am off to get more fucking dry ice and play with the sound deadening some more. FML.

When you get bored fill a 2 liter bottle 1/2 way with warm water. Chop up some dry ice into a 3-4" long bar that will fit into the bottle. Toss in dry ice, screw cap on tight, toss bottle far away from anyone and wait.

When it explodes you’ll be amazed how loud it is.

I’ve found that 20oz bottles with an inch or two of warm water have a better pop to 'em.

Did that thing have a ton of audio equip in it or something? I remember custom radio had a FD shop car about 10 yrs ago with a crazy sub setup in the hatch.

Where did u get your dry ice from? Or if you have any left over let me know n ill buy it i need to strip the rest out of my talon

and i also need to paint my car :frowning:

you going to gloss black rattle can the interior?

Its probably the stuff they sell at Lowes lol.

The project seems to be coming along well though.

LOL that is so much fun haha

I actually called the previous owner about it and he said he was bored and wanted to make the car quieter. :picard: In all honesty it was probably 100lbs max but I just didn’t like knowing it was there.

Irish Welding Supply is where I get it. Like 36bux for 50lbs. I am going to paint the interior. I am not 100% sure how I am going to set it up though as far as how much plastic I want in. Not that am trying to save weight I just really like the no plastic/carpet look.

It deff is that shit!!!

So tonight we slaved some more on this thing and it is finally starting to look like a car again!!! Glass is all back in and I would say 85% of the sound deadening is out. Car is coming back to my house Thursday and I have to get started right away on pulling out the old exhaust/headers to ship them to their new owner. Lots more work to come in the next few weeks but its fun and I have some cool dudes helping me a ton. Thanks to the usual crew and the additional sobo tonight for the help!!!

:awdrifter:

We pounded hardcore on the sound deadening tonight, and the car looks pretty tits with the glass back in and the paint mostly cleaned up. I’ll have a few pics in a little bit.

I don’t know why but looking at the pics always kinda makes my day I really like to take in the progress and look at where it came from.
Now that I am getting in the groove a little better with school I should be able to work on the car 2-3 days a week once it is at my house. I think the rest of the project should move along pretty well but I am not quite certain I will have everything finished by my original April 1st goal but we will see.

Things that need done:

Finish stripping the interior then paint it and re install everything
Remove entire exhaust setup and then install/fab up the new setup
Clean up wiring and make under the hood look reasonable
Build the heads and install the cam
Then the 5,000,000 other random little odds and ends I need to finish up.

Took me a month to figure out how to set white balance for Chokos silly paint lights. They may not look like anything special, but they are a nightmare for the SLR. All the camera nerds will feel my pain haha. Oh well anything prior to this point isn’t great, but it does the job. W/e On to the latest pics:

holy shit, you guys really went to work on that interior…i couldnt believe that it had that much sound deadening in it

We had four guys, a ton of different removal tools, 50lbs of dry ice and about 4 hours of the most intense thrashing I have ever seen tonight. We probably have at least 15hrs into getting the interior to where it is including taking it all apart.

Ugh I <3 it

I would also like to note that the stance is not finished yet. I measured today and need to raise the front about 1/4" and the rear is going about 3/4" lower. I need to install the R1 front lip. I might order up some sidesteps and a rear diffuser sometime soon.

Heres your rear shot, fag <3
