Quick thought…
I did something similar to the trunk area of my dad’s '55 Chevy. Under this cover you could conceal some stereo shit, could also make a storage compartment to keep things from floating around in the hatch. I like how somethins like this seperates the driver and passengers from the hatch area.
I like that.
Here is the issue and the reason I haven’t done something like that. Unfortunately I do not have a truck and trailer so when I go to the track I stuff slicks and tool in the back. I need to be able to get one tilted in behind the pass seat and one laying down pushed forward enough to shut the hatch. Otherwise id have to start putting my slicks/tools in someones truck before I go which would get complicated. Same reason I didn’t have the rear strut bar on.
That looks really nice though. I might just do it and then need to bug people to take my slicks when I go lol.
VERY easy to make it removable. On the '55 I have 6 screws holding shit in place. Behind the panel on that car is the battery so it needed to be easy to access…
Built properly, there’s no reason this and the strut bar couldn’t come out in a few minutes:tup:

A lot of the auto-x guys install small trailer hitches and get one of those small 4x4 trailers to carry tools and spare wheels. Putting a trailer hitch on would suck but it may be a better solution than mashing slicks into the hatch.

I think today Im going to drive there on the skinnies. One slick in back and one on the pass seat. Shit if I run 4 11.0’s again I will wish I took the pass seat out.

Its certainly not ideal for running a best time. But I have only made like 6 clean passes in this car and just want the seat time and to be able to practice launching it as well. PS nice avatar. Never noticed that before. <3 les
The air is horrible today for an n/a car. You’ll be pissed at yourself for going.
Car was running amazing. Traps in the 126mph range. Got the launch dialed in and was all set to make a 10sec pass…But then I blew 3rd gear in the trans lol. On my best 60ft to date none the less. 1.51. Ran 11.1 right before this pass. I was not upset about going tonight. I’ll get her back up and going ASAP. PS my 3rd has been crunchy and zipping into gear all season.
