my camaro inexpensive paint job

Finally got around to getting a few parts of my car sprayed. It was done by one of my friends, as we all know you get what you pay for when it comes to paint work so with that said I am very happy with the way it is turning out. I had such a hard time deciding if i want to do anything unique or just go with straight black. I ended up doing a stripe pattern on the front of the car. We spent several hours measuring and laying out the stripes, it was very tough being that the pattern i wanted did not go with any body lines and basically had to be eyballed in many spots. I KNOW it is not perfect as i did not pay for a perfect paint job. However most people will not be able to tell the errors we made with laying out the stripes with out hawking the car. I mean it is far from a showroom floor car :rofl. he just sprayed it tonight and the clear needs to be buffed but you cannot tell from my poor quality pictures. We should have it all wrapped up by the end of the week. This is my first time having a hand in any body, i have learned a lot through out the process. the guy who sp;rayed it however has quite some experince. Some of you might know about the mountain mafia ring leader lol. Here are several shots i took throughout the process:

That can’t be Franks garage. Way too clean.

Frank p? this is the oldmans garage Nick and jared’s fathers.

good deal man

Subscribed for the results.

I’ve seen a few DIY paintjobs come out rather good. It won’t be a show winner but the average person will hardly tell imperfections without inspecting the entire car and typically results after a DIY paintjob are still far better than before.

Thanks guys, after this all i will need is some real power under the hood.

vlad, the guy who is spraying it has been doing body work for longer than ive even been alive. he use to work at a actual body shope several years ago, and has been doing it on the side for a good amount of time. The only issues with the car are in the stripes them selves. if i had chose to not paint on stripes i believe even i would have been fooled that it was not done 100% by a pro. hopefully it is finished tomorrow and i will be able to show final pictures. Anything is better than how the car had looked prior ha

Looks like you got all the striping very close to symetrical. I’m sure it will look good all buffed out.

The more I look at it today the more it looks symetrical to me. We had a such a hard time laying out the second stripe for a few reasons. The first one was that we basically just eye-balled the first side only using 3 points of reference. all the bends were just eye-balled just marking the approximate point where they would start. We had a hard time finding areas on the hood that would give us accurate reference measurements. All the bends and angles were honestly done by eye. Im sure there is a far more sophisticated way of laying it out but we made do with what we had, I am very happy with the outcome. The two bends ontop of the scoop got a little “fuzzy” i guess you would say after the tape was removed. It is what it is, im pretty sure after clear it will be almost impossible to tell unless pointed out.

Here is a before shot just so you guys can see if its any better. In this picture you honestly cant really see the flaws in the paint. The entire front bumper cracking all throughout it. It looked like shit in person. The hood also was pretty mangled it flew up on me 2 years ago taking a chip out of passenger top corner and some serious cracks underneath the hood throwing it way off. The back bumper was alsmost peeling in a few spots, some one had sprayed very very heavy coats on it. the paint was way to thick.

Heres the outcome, had to respray all areas since photo’s above. For some reason we had a serious issue with the clear on the hood. Like i said its deff not a show room paint job but hey its way better than before :dunno

Waiting on new side marker lights, current ones are cracked in a few places and look like shit.
