Okay you know how when you start up the car the RPMs are over 1k for a while, then they drop.
Well 92.56% of the time it’s fine, but sometimes, when I start the car… they just start dropping. And when I push the gas, nothing happens, and they’ll stay around 500 RPM for a bit, and then drops more, and dies.
Then if I start it up again, same thing happens, again I try pushing gas RIGHT away when I start it and nothing happens. After like 10 seconds of the RPMs moving around 400-600 RPM it will either die again or they’ll jump a little to 1k, and then car works fine (ie, when I push the gas RPM goes up).
Happened twice so far, and the first time it took 3 tries for it to start up normally, and the 2nd time it was fine after the 2nd try.
These are NOT cold starts. Both times it happened when car was warmed up and was only off for 30 or so minutes max.
Any ideas ?
I was having idling problems with mine a while back, check all your vacum lines, one or more could be broken, that was mine problem with mine, and if your alternator was going, your car would drive like shit, i just change mine becuse it was going, the rpms will jump all over the place, and when you are driving, the rms will jump to 8000 rpms and jump right back down to mornal, and it will do the same thing over and over, thats what mine did.

Alright, well I’m gonna go ahead and bump this thread because it keeps happening sometimes and since it’s nice out I really want to get it fixed…
The thing is, I don’t think it could be a vacuum leak because if it was it would happen all the time right???
First of all, the only time it actually DIES is right when I start it up. If it doesn’t die then, it won’t die while I’m driving…
It WILL however act a bit weird at first, ie when I’m driving and I come up to a light and I stick it in neutral revs will play around 400-700 mark then it will stabalize. After driving for 30 mins, it works like a charm, idle is perfectly steady at 700, etc…
BTW, when I start it up and it and it acts this way it shakes a lot too, and sometiems makes weird noise. Today I hard to re start it about 7 times because at first it would start then bounce around and die, but then it would just start and die instantly, like it goes to 400 rpm (not even regular idle rpm) and just dies…
Then I wait 5 minutes and it’s fine…
