My cars idle is low

Been driving around lately and my car shuts off when I go to stop. Ill down shift to stop and my rpms go down to 0 and my car shuts off. I compensate for the low idle with just keeping my foot just enough on the gas and just brake with my left foot. The battery terminals are tight so im not sure what it is.

Year/Make/model/mileage/engine/mods?

We don’t have crystal balls here.

Idle air control valve?

he has juan’s old teg.

its a 96 honda civic d16 it has 222,xxx miles, p.o.s intake

vacuum leaks have caused similar problems recently for me…

can you test for vacuum leaks, i read it might be injectors. i have the haynes manual but do hondas have idle screws?

throttle cable sensor? i had this prob on my Durango

if its just a beater or w/e you can tighten the throttle cable a bit or mess with the idle air screw if it has one

On a honda, it might be the iacv. Did you try adjusting the idle screw? SHould be right on the tb.

good luck

You can try spraying carb cleaner or starting fluid around any suspect leak areas. If the engine RPM increases you’ve found the leak.

Obviously use caution when spraying flammable sprays around your running engine.
