My clean SR20 block. I had it bored 0.020" over with a torque plate (Yes I have one, haha  ), honed, cleaned, new frost plugs. It was all done by EC Machine on 118th and they did a great job. I’ll be taking the cylinder head to them for the upgrades I want to do. Anyways, here are some pics of the block. I have connecting rods on the way, they will be here within a few days. They are Crower rods and they definetly AREN’T cheap, but I’d rather be safe then sorry 56k users go smoke a few cigarettes, hehe.
It’s needed if your boring your block out. Its there to simulate the cylinder head. It’s torqued down to spec and then bored and it keeps everything is a straight line. Cause when you torque your head on, everything “deforms” and the top of the cylinder won’t be as straight as the rest of the cylinder and you can pop your engine. I had it made from 1" steel so it’s not light and costed me $600. But I can let them have it to do your block. How much are you going over in diameter? This torque plate is 86.5mm. So you can either do that, or 87mm which requires sleeves. I just hope they still have the spacers for the headbolts or else they’ll charge you to make new ones. It wasn’t that expensive though, like $10-$20. Anyways, let me know cause it was a 1 time use for me so now it’s just sitting here.
Well, hopefully there isn’t any damage to the cylinder walls and I won’t need to bore it out any more than needed. Gotta disassemble first and assess the issue. Then I’ll know more about my situation.
