I disagree with your logic.
The norm is to eat meat. The norm is to wear leather.
The norm is to ignore the homeless.
Not eating meat is a positive change.
Giving a homeless guy 10 dollars is a positive change.
Being a slumlord is not the norm.
Your example would be better suited to a vegan who ran a slaughterhouse.

I think both of our comparisons are a bit off.
Bottom line, I’d have trouble saying I’m not going to eat meat to help the animals then put on a leather coat, shoes and gloves.
I feel bad enough to change my diet but not bad enough to change my fashion statements.
It’s OK though, I’ll eat the steaks from the cow that was killed to make your jacket so the meat doesn’t go to waste. :tup:

Summary: Guy is sent to a chicken processing plant to build a chute for male chicks, so that they are not subjected to a >18" fall. The “fall” that they had was about 36". Animal Rights activists were harassing the plant because of this fall. Now they have a comfy less than 1 foot fall.
And a few feet later (at the bottom of the funnel) they are sucked in to a “masticator” chick shredding machine and blow out as a pink paste.
Glad that no chicks were hurt in the fall.

Well, I was back at the same hatchery again today doing a different project and asked how the chute was working out.
The guy I talked to said that the slope of the chute is just shallow enough that sometimes the chicks won’t slide all the way down and two or three will get stuck. They would just sit there until another chick came sliding and knocked the whole group the rest of the way.
So it seems that not only did I reduce the chance of them getting hurt before they died, but I also reduced the chance that they would die alone.
