My Header Has Zits?

So this is my header, sent to Jet Hot for Extreme Sterling…lasted all of 10 minutes before bubbling up.

EGTs ok, not off the grid. Bum luck I suppose.

pop them :stuck_out_tongue:

proactive?

Details?

Either looks like bad prep work on JetHot’s part or overheating, over rich burning in the pipes

Oof. Looks like someone didn’t prep well. I would call and see what they say.

EGTs were normal. It was at the dyno that day for install and dyno run…that happened on start up.

Guys at the shop felt that since the flange was unaffected it wasn’t due to off the grid egt’s…pyrometer confirmed that, so the uneven failure was most likely due to prep. Another coater in the neighborhood stopped by and suggested it could have been oil in the compressor when they were spraying.

Again, many people have done well with them…I saw this kind of thing with their weird colors like copper…extreme sterling is good for 1600…anyway, guess it was my bum luck.

I’m sure if you send them pics and request a re-coating, they would take care of you.

it does look like oil in the spray could have done that…also its not in the areas that could have been shot at a dif. time…i would def call

BAM! Herpes

the russian is that how your dick looks?

My Jet-hot extreme sterling coated turbo manifold looks exactly the same. But not the entire thing, only the colllector which is 12" away from the exhaust ports and the EGT probe which never read above 1500*F.

that’s pretty bogus :frowning:

i spoke to them, they would have resprayed it under warranty (if they determined it wasn’t my fault…whatever.), but they never sent the call tag and i really needed the car…call tag never came…that and shop time for install/breakdown/install/breakdown/install was going to cost just as much as a new coat. so i got a new coating from the local ceramic guy who turned it around in a day instead of waiting 1 wk+ for the tunraround. that’s the problem with a daily driver…sometimes warranty doesn’t really matter, if you’re spending on shop time or cabs for a week.

the local guy sprayed the interior with the higher degree black stuff good for 2000 and the exterior in 1600 silver. got my car back next day. beat the snot out of it…no acne.

lesson learned. expensive. but learned.

Got the info on the local ceramic guy?

better late then never

you should look into swain tech in scottsville, south or rochester. I’ve seen that happen, (not as bad) to every FI jethot car Ive ever worked on. The outside of the 1st, and maybe 2nd turn. Finish getting rough like sandpaper, very small popped bubbles and they turn into a brown color. And basically rust as far and I can tell, The 3800 SLP headers on GTPs all do it. Jethot just says to 000-0000 steel wool off surface containets, that looks better for about 3 days.

firehawk/jnj Have you worked with anything form swain tech?

I really think the interior coating helps alot. I wanted to get that on mine too but Jet-hot recommended against it because of the turbo. If it flakes off it goes into the turbo but Im sure it cant be that much material, or at least it shouldnt be.

swaintech does the same thing.

hot exhaust temps will do that.

What does the other one look like?

looks like the_russian touched it?

i don’t like the color of swain tech so that’s why I didn’t go with them.

I will post an updated pic tonight with the new guy’s info.
