My HIDs from DDMTuning review:

well ryanmcell wanted to know how i liked the DDMTuning HIDs that i just ordered, so i figured i would make it public for anyone who wanted to know.

-i ordered these on 3-30 and received a confirmation for my order immediately in my email (like most companies). I never received a shipping notification or tracking number… so i was kind of worried that they were not shipped…
-Received the headlights on 4-3 (4 days for shipping… not too bad) though i paid an extra $.50! for 2-3 day shipping lol.
-I have heard that customer support at DDM as garbage, however i never had to call them.
-Lifetime warranty on bulbs!
-installation literally took 10 minutes. however, the kit is not vehicle specific. So right now as my bike sits today the screw on covers for the back of my headlights do not fit because there are 4 wires sticking out that prevent me from installing it on correctly. this is no good for a couple reasons. this will allow moisture into the headlight, which can cause the chrome parts to flake or fade. and when im driving at night i can see the light splashing backward towards me into the controls. I think when i get out of work today i am going to grab my drill and drill a hole in the covers for my headlights so that i can run the wires through them then slap some tape on over top to prevent any air/moisture from getting in that way!

-Now on a performance stand point, these headlights are way nicer, cleaner and brighter. some people say that without projectors HIDs will splash the headlights to high and cause blinding situations to on coming traffic. So far i disagree with that as far as my bike is concerned, it seems the stock headlight housing has a pretty decent cut off and very minimal if any light splashes above it. I can see better and more at night with these headlights on and they look better aesthetically!

-two problems i noticed (both minimal)

  1. the head lights buzz. But with any exhaust even the stock one i think you wouldn’t be able to hear the buzz any way.
  2. the lights take about 4 seconds to warm up. This does not matter for the low beam in any way shape or form. The high beam however can be kind of annoying because it takes 4 seconds just to turn on your high beam. I still think its worth the wait because once its on its Bright!!

DDMH7-6000K DDM HID Kit Slim Ballast (35W or 55W)

$50.00 for HID headlights, totally worth IMO, should have ordered a second set for my g/f’s bike at the same time to save on shipping… but oh well.

edit: pics
Kit came with no mounting hardware so make sure you have some nice double sided tape and zip ties

looks way better in person obviously, ill try and get some decent photos later on.

=( my thread sucks…

You are supposed to drill out the dust cover and put the gasket inside of the hole so no water or moisture gets inside.

It takes a little bit at first for everthing to warm up but after sometime they get bright much quicker.

yep HIDs always take longer to warm up, but theyre fuggin awesome

yea im retard so it takes me an extra day to figure things out ={

Just what we need, another set of aftermarket HIDs in unsuitable headlights driving around WNY, blinding oncoming traffic.

:picard:

use some black caulk or epoxy to seal up that hole real good.

I am thinking of getting one for my bike, but it has the single round headlight and I am not sure there will be room in the housing

i drove behind and around with my g/f the other night and asked her if they were too bright and she said no… so… plus cars like scion tc have ridiculously bright headlights stock n e ways, so whatever…

these hid bulbs are much shorter in length then the hid bulbs i had in my old neon.

Nice review. Definitely picking up a kit. I want to say DDM might’ve been the same HID kits I had in my e36 m but I don’t remember.

Thanks dude, order placed.

you are not suppose to use an HID in a highbeam because of the cycling of it. It will cause it to burn out fast. (except if the bulb is a bi-xenon, which this is then normal to cycle). That is why cars with HIDs still use halogens in the short term bright headlight (the one you flick on and off)

I’ve heard that so many times… yet I’ve set my HID’s off like strobe lights at the track and put them in high beams on so many cars without issues. I really don’t think it matters a noticeable amount.

i am more curious to longevity of the ballasts of the DDM kits

Oh shut up.

eh, ill let you know if i have problems.

and if i do, lifetime warranty.

I have a set too… 55w 6000k … love them.

I got a set from them that came in with a non-working bulb. I sent it back and they sent me the wrong replacement bulb. Instead of having me send that one back they just sent me the correct bulb in the mail. I had no issues with their customer service they were very helpful but I could of done w/o them sending me the wrong bulb.

i’ve had mine for 2 years now and no problems. i leave my high beam on all the time, and have it aimed lower than normal to prevent blinding oncoming drivers.

Just installed mine today. Couldn’t have been easier. Apparently when I moved to VA though I somehow lost my step bit so had to go buy another, and of course it didn’t fit my cordless, so until tomorrow the back case remains off.

It’s horrible and it really does blind you! I had to pull over to let a ricer biker pass me because his uber shitty HID’s acted more like strobe lights than a headlights in my mirror.

Fuck off Glitch, stop whining none of us care. Maybe you should drive faster in the left lane or get out of the way.
