My kitchen remodel so far

Wish I had taken some before pics, but basically i had awful built in cabinets that have probably been in the home since it was built circa 1900. The top cabinets were exposed, the doors had been taken off, and all cabinets were painted white with red accents and had awful hammered iron hardware.

Also upgraded from early 90s white plain jane fridge and gas range to a Siemens stainless side by side and a black Kenmore range with center gridle burner. Replaced horrid faux-brick backsplash with vintage faux-tin backsplash.

Still have a little bit of plastering and painting left, going to replace the kitchen table with matching center island, and still not 100% set on what type of counter top i’m going with (with top on there now is the old counter from the old cabinets, it looks fine for now until I buy the island). Lastly I’m going to upgrade my light fixtures. But this is where I stand now, total cost including appliances was about $2400.

Will add more pics not from my cell phone as I near completion.

Those pics are way too dark to really get a good look at anything.

I think it might look great!

looking to get rid of the old cabinets??

You try to open your fridge yet? The side by sides need more than 90 degrees to open, which means you probably don’t have a lot of access to your crisper and have to maneuver around the trays on the door to get things out.

Anyhow, looks pretty good. Do you have any before pics?

Built-in cabinets become a pile of scrap wood when they are removed. I guarantee there is nothing left.

 I clearly read that too fast. I thought it said aweful built cabinets, lol…In which case I could have potentially made them work.

I’m guessing you’re most likely right that they have become fire wood.

Did i try to open the fridge yet? No, i just bought it to fill up that space near the wall, no real plans to use it :purextc: It’s a counter depth fridge. the freezer is fine, the fridge door can hit the wall, but there absolutlely no problems with drawers opening and or access to anything for that matter.

No before pics, and my old cabinets kept me warm outside during a few chilly nights over the summer.

Looks good. It’s a ton of work isn’t it. I installed our entire kitchen early this past winter when we built our house.

yeah but i’m trying to get as much positive equity out of this house as possible. i figured the kitchen was a great place to start. If I hired someone to do all the work and paid full retail for everything, I’d be looking at close to 8k or 9k for this remodel. It has cost me about one quarter of that so far. so it has definitely been worth it to me.

Look into fireslate for the island counter top at least. Nice stuff, and it’s cheap. Just requires some upkeep.

That was more of a rhetorical question, literal Jim. I bought a side by side for my tenants and it hits the wall with the freezer door. Still usable but sometimes hard to pull things out of.

Looks nice, too bad you don’t have any before pics. That fridge is bad ass btw. SS ftw.

nice work where did you get the cabinets?

they’re actually from grossman’s bargain outlet. it was an old floor display model marked down 20%, then i used that roll the dice coupon and got an addition 50% off. it was actually exactly what i needed, it couldn’t have worked out better. About $2200 worth of cabinets for around $600.

Thats an awesome deal. Looks reall good.

Nice cabinets. I like the colors.
