yup… I think I found my new project for the summer. Used to own one of these back a few years ago and fell in love with it. Unfortunitly though, back then the car was my DD so I never got much of a chance to screw around with it for fear of breaking it.
anyway… turn up the boost and if something breaks, oh well It’ll then turn into my fall/winter project lol
first mod (besides cleaning it up real good and taking care of any body damage) is either swapping the blower out for an m112 or see about swapping over to a turbo setup.
(not pictures of ACTUAL car… same thing though… 35th anniversary supercoupe… mine wont be as nice… at first :D)
Technical Data Power Plant:The Super Coupe’s comes equipped with a 3.8 liter V-6 powerplant that is force-fed with an Eaton Corporation supercharger. The 8.2 to 1 compression ratio, combined with six computer controlled sequential fuel injectors, completes the well rounded underhood package. While running at a maximum 15,600 rpm’s, the supercharger provides 12 psi of boost and as a resultant it develops 210 bhp at 4000 engine rpm’s. The engine develops 315 ft•lbf of torque at 2600 rpm. The supercharged V-6 delivers ample power without much noise but an underdrive kit and a performance chip are available to boost the horsepower rating to 255 bhp.
with the 4.6 blower swap on the other hand, it’s supposed to yield right around 400 WHP or so, not sure on torque… the kit isnt finished yet though
but yeah, I loved the torque it put it stock when I owned my old one… be rolling @15 mph and hammer on it {pssssssttttttt} screeeeeeetch and smoke pouring out the rear
edit: I was intrested in a nice 88 Turbo coupe (turbo 2.3l) but it was sold already
lol, never did them… but I can tell you for sure… worse… much worse
I tired (key word) doing the spark plugs on my old one and man what a PITA it was having to remove all the IC plumbing to get to them. This time around though, I’m just gonna scrap the stock IC piping and go with something that I can take apart piece by piece (aka, sylicone connectors VS one solid piece of cast metal lol)… atleast the drivers side sucked
