my o2 sensor fell off. what does that mean?

so last night i heard this rattling underneath my car, and just dismissed it as something stupid with a rusty exhaust bolt or something. you guys know what i mean. so anywho, then i pull out of a parking lot, and my car becomes SUPER loud, like it sounded like a god damn dump truck.

this morning i decide to peak underneath and see what’s going on. and i see an o2 sensor dragging underneath on the pavement. so i take a better look at it, and plug it back into the hole that it goes into.

now my car is quieter again.

but… why did this happen? and i already knew i needed an o2 sensor. does this mean that the… thing it plugs back into is bad?

i hope you guys can understand this. i don’t know what some things are called.

sounds like you have a rusty bung.

bung hole? hahahaha.

probably blew it out from to much use

just put a new one in… but yes bung hole is shot

I thought Bung holes were all threaded? Welded in pieces of threaded something?

dawn did the “nut” come off with the o2 sensor or just the sensor?

b/c if the nut came out with it… you may need a new bung put in

its to much boost

well i only saw the o2 sensor. i didn’t see anything else. i just stuck it back in, and it’s still loose. i wrapped the wire around the heat shield so it wouldn’t hit the pavement again if it fell out. is that bad?

lol … hun you need to get a new one put in … but if the bung itself fell out it need to be fixed

no i know i need a new one. but for now, that’s what i did.

for now it will work i guess
