The Demon carb has all kind of problems, not quite the problems you have, but 69Camaro lent me some things that I’m working with right now to get the carb tuned right along with a lot of other advise I have found on the net, just kinda sucks it’s taking time with the weather all crappy and all of that.
Finally all the side work in my garage dipped for a week and I was able to spend some time on the buick. Fixed two leaking spots on my newst rebuilt tranny(speedo and gov cover) and bolt the demon back down on the intake to check for changes performane. Still a big thanks to 69Camaro for the tuning equipment which I’ll will return to you very soon.
Can’t wait for daylight savingstime and even more nicer weather
take your time
Post this at turbobuick.com. Also we have a western pa turbobuick meet every month.
I did end up posting the buick at turbobuick.com
I got the Demon carb back on the Buick:
It’s fully tuned. Solid 11.3 AFR with the six screamin at redline.
Time to put the intercooler on it and crank the boost up.
I’m HAPPY.
congrats
Oh yeah! Thanks.
Congrats. I love this build-up.
Thanks!
Intercooler:
Wow I can’t belive I missed this build thread…its a really good build. how is the BG tuning workin out I recently picked up one for my nova.
Thanks for checking the thread out. You will say some choice curse words tuning the demon but it’s correctable. It’s not too bad to tune, you better like math though.
That’s awesome dude. G-bodies are sick. Especially when highly modified.
The Buick is headed back to the dynojet dyno on jun 20th @ carshow/ burnout contest/ dyno @ Wades garage in Fairmont Wv.
I’m getting my bottle filled now. I’ll get it back friday then all I have to do is install a new catch can. it was fine before but now I more than doubled the boost and oil is flying out of pcv breathers. I’m also going to Perhaps run up to a 50/50 mix of E85 and 93 octane. If not then straight 93 octane
Some preparations for the dyno day, I made a high volume catch can for $0:
And a cold air box I also made for $0 after I relocated the air intake:
nice, but I hope your replacing the valve covers and installing an intercooler…
Updates!!! late but I’m doing it.
I never got to go to the dyno with the Buick, I lost the #2 cylinder “piston rings” 3 days before I was supposed to head out for the dyno session.
So I managed to pick up an '85 T-Type block for cheap with some known problems:
Bent push rod:
Plans include a build copying what I did on my '83 t-type block.
Now the '85 block is cleaned ready for dismantling:
Ok here I’ll just sneek in a few shots of my Buick 455:
lol Ok enough of that. here are a few of the stock '85 t-type camshaft and lifters that were wiped BADLY:
Cam button going to town on the '85 timing cover:
Here is that same push rod:
Got the Crankshaft loose from the rods and shoved them all the way down into the bore getting the block ready for a new rear main seal:
Rear main seal is installed and crankshaft back in the block with the rods back on:
Here is the '83 block ready to go:
…and going:
Gone:
Here the '83 block is ready to give up it’s timing set and camshaft"which is really a stock’86-'87 GN/T-Type camshaft":
More of the same:
Gone:
Here the '85 block is getting the camshaft installed:
Camshaft is in, now the timing set is finished:
All 12 lifters lubed and installed:
Valve train is finished:
Timing cover repaired:
Intake manifold and timing cover installed:
Balancer, distributor and oil pan with previous owner installed oil drainback on the block:
Headers, turbocharger, valve covers installed:
here are piston ring fragments I found stuck up in the turbine housing from the dead cylinder from the '83 block:
Ok here we go with the '85 block and this time a stock th350c back in the car:
Almost there, I’m working by myself ya know:
Home:
Ok the Regal lives Fired up the '85 block for the first time in this car, sounds good runs good, have to adjust the ignition timing and detent kickdown cable.
I made a small but positive change to the intake plumbing . Originally it’s 6 pieces all recycled stuff “sections from a Pontiac G6 and Nissan Frontier”. Now I’ve narrowed to only three pieces and it’s a lot straighter and cleaner. So now the surging is really reduced after any boosting session mid or part throttle @ any boost after I release the throttle. It actually has better throttle response and spools faster with that small change. Love it. Using a WeaponR air filter. I need a 4 speed bad I’m out of gears fast with a 3.42 , Someday.
Here are some shots of the updated inlet tube.
So I ended up using the Nissan Frontier baffle crossover with the baffles removed and my newest part simply the last 3/4 section of a Ford Focus TB inlet to air box tube. That’s it now it hugs the distributor nice but don’t interfere it is as straight as it can get to my home made cold air box.
Here, please make fun: I was HIGH on life when this was made

Jacob’s Digital Ignition, Ultra coil, Boost timing master, more things to find their way onto the Buick.
Nice to see you still around man
