was locked before I had a chance to see it and respond I want to post a response.
My car has been under construction for a bit longer than I had planned.
The motor fucked up back in September and the valves chewed up the pistons from hitting them. When the motor was apart we saw that oil was getting past the rings.
Instead of just putting new rings and bearings in it (pistons were probably ok) we decided that it would be a better idea to just put a new shortblock in it.
I ordered one from what I thought was a reputable place back in December and it took until March to get it due to nothing but excuses from what ended up seeming like a shady business. I finally got it and then had to buy heads and a bunch of other parts.
I had AFR 165 heads on the car and took them to a machine shop and they had to do alot of work to them due to the previous shop that put headgaskets on the car after they blew not getting them machined (basically eye balled them and said they were good to go). After they were done I decided to sell them and get better flowing heads.
Along the way I bought my truck and had to use the money I got from the heads as a downpayment on the truck. I finally bought heads at the end of April. Then I had to wait for more money to buy the rest of the parts I needed.
Right now the motor is on a stand and Im just waiting for everything to be bolted onto it and then Ill have to order pushrods. The guy working on my car is a little busy with a few other projects so I told him not to rush.
It really should be all done in less than a month.
I really dont know how the car is going to run. Its gotta run better than the 13.8’s it was running with misadjusted valves and shit last year though.
For all I know it might blow up the first time I drive it. I really question the durability of the tranny since its a non original T5 and the car originally had an AOD. (5 speed swap FTW)
Inspections arent a problem but thats not what Im waiting for to drive it.
Ive had alot of bad luck with this car since Ive owned it including a 6 month stay in the bodyshop with a shitty paint job as the end result, blown clutch, blown head gaskets and various other mechanical issues.
