Should have let me know that. I had a customer that just sold his Silver Rose(Turbo S) for cheap. $14K cheap with just under 68K miles on it.
yeah but guys that are serious about boost always go to the iron blocks, ive seen 1200 rwhp on a stock lq4 block, thats rediculous
i want a boosted 434cu/in LQ based engine in something someday
silver rose, probably the red wine interior? i want either red on black leather, or black on black i like colors that suck to maintain… if you can find an 88-89 turbo you get all the goodies from the S, just not the name on the back… someday ill get one, they arent the best porsche in the world, but perfect balance, an engine responsive to power mods… and an engine thats pretty tough to work on without a lift.
Difficult to find an S transaxle separately from the car with the bigger R&P and mainshaft, but yes you can build an “S” from a 951. If I were to build another 944 I’d so an S3…'88+ 944 tub with 951 M030(ROW) suspension and 968 3.0L drivetrain and transaxle @ 12.5:1 CR. Had a ride a couple years ago at a WGI PCA event with Dale in his and drooled non stop at the torque and responsivness of that car. All sourced and built for about 12K.
“and an engine thats pretty tough to work on without a lift” … :lol
yeah i got a ride in a 86 turbo, with an autothority chip, shimmed wastegate and an exhaust back when i was 15-16, a friend of mine had it, and i was hooked from there.
I should take you for a rip in the 3.6 Turbo :ninja
im game. if money were no object id have either a 964 GT2 or a 993 Turbo S. none of those ferrari dreams, or lambo’s. old Porsche for me.
Adam
I should have the car tomorrow and if I get plates in the am then I will see you at the shop…
I’m leaving the shop early tomorrow, sharp at 2pm, as I have to machine some custom parts for one of Seths racing bikes @ Moon for a race on thursday of next week. Kind of an emergency last minute thing that he’s called out to me today to try and get done for him and Taylor. If you want to try and shoot up sometime next week I’m open for any day. I’ll leave you directions in a private message here.

nice present!!! :wow
your wife rocks dude.
a buddy of mine has 2 identical 924s both guards red. sweet cars.
check out gt-racing for the sickest race parts.
PHHHHHIL. :nod
…that fit like crap for a Porsche :eek Worst fitting aftermarket fiberglass out there, but then again that’s why they call it GT-RACING Shit get’s all banged up anyway.
944…the disposable Porsche.
3.0L from the 968 with the 12.5:1 CR? What type of HP does this generate, like 250+ to the tire?
How high can you rev with those humongous pistons?
hahahah no they wont…unless your Y SO SLO
Custom Mahle pistons combined with the stock rods and some fly cutting I do yields 12.48:1 compression on stock cc chambers. Stock is about 8.3:1 IIRC. With a custom burn they’ve turned on average mid 320’s at the crank pending on how aggressive you get with the cams and timing. Lot’s of torque though, in the 360ftlbs range most of the time. Right about the same torque as the UBER rare 968 Turbo S(only 15 real in the world). Cams are a bit of a trick to work into this mix as coupled with the variocam the intake retards about 7.5 degrees. I know a few guys have opted to lock out the variocam when building this motor in a high compression state.
Being a superior Mahle piston and a fully balanced bottom end car can swing out to 8K safely all day long provided you tend to the valve train springs a bit. Motor is over square and loves RPM, 104 bore 88 stroke(mm) in stock form. Mahle’s punch it out .020 over and keep stock stroke, one guy I know has built a long stroke(90mm) stock bore motor at 11:1 CR and puts down close to 380ftlbs at ~4K rpms All for not w/o camshaft work though as the motor runs out of steam above 6K if any chamber work is done.
It’s by far one of my most favorite engines to build for customers. A blast to do in a 968. Drop one into a lightened 88+ 944 chassis with some suspension work and it’s downright one of the greatest hybrid cars on the road(S3). I will eventually do one for myself but one car at a time here for me 962 first, then fun beater road car.
Impressive stuff, thanks for the info dude :thumb
Updated pics after a wax…
I received ZERO phone calls inviting me to go rip on this fucker. Whats the deal here?
