If you are single, how do you feel about tax breaks for married people? Period. I mean, question mark.

Example: I am married and my wife works. We will get no benefit and pay a ton in federal taxes. My buddy has a stay-at-home wife and 3 kids. He pays almost zero federal tax, claiming 4 dependents.

I am, effectively, subsibizing his life style choice. We are the same age. We have similar jobs with similar salaries. But, I pay a lot more in taxes than he does. That is absolutely a form of social welfare.

I know (hopefully) that the tax rules will benefit me eventually, when I have kids. But currently, our respective tax burdens are a little bit lopsided.

you don’t have to agree with it, but when you let your bias manifest itself into action (i.e. supporting legislation to deny gay people the same rights as other Americans), then yes, I would have no hesitation to call you discriminatory.

I’m not telling you that you have to like gays, or watch will and grace every night. However, I see it as un-American to deny a certain group rights just because you don’t agree with their lifestyle. “WE HOLD THESE TRUTHS TO BE SELF-EVIDENT, THAT ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL”… I’m pretty sure that quote didn’t go on to say “unless you’re queer”.

Darkstar, I have a question for you, this is off the subject but I would like to here your response. Do you beleive that the 2nd ammendment gives us the right to own the same types of guns as the military and the police, example- ar15’s and various other assault weapons, high capacity mags, semi auto shotguns etc., or do you beleive we should only be aloud to own guns for hunting like, lever action rifles, bolt action rifles, single shot rifles, pump shotguns etc? I would like to here your answer to this.

no. it says bear arms, but it doesn’t say “all arms”. reasonable restrictions should be put in place. As far as small arms, I dont think there should be many restrictions as far as banning of certain weapons, but there should be strict accountability about the whereabouts of questionable guns and a careful screening process. People should not be ALLOWED to own rocket launchers.
