Need a chimney painted - who?

Who would I even call to paint a chimney?

It’s kind of late in the season so I probably won’t find anyone who can do it this year, but I don’t even know who to call. The mortar was repointed and the cap fixed a year ago but I never got around to getting it repainted.

It’s too high for me, and half of it is way above the roof so I don’t even know how you would get at it.

BJ’s odd jobs?

I have a 28’ extension ladder and a 12’ little giant wannabe if you ever feel tempted.

I’m not tempted. I never thought I was afraid of heights until I tried to get to the top of my chimney. Turns out I am.

on this note: I didnt realize I was until I was in the stratosphere tower about to ride those fucking rides. Also again when I was at the top of the La Sagrada Familia cathedral in Barcelona.

lol
I remember the 1st dat I started tearing off my roof. I thougt to myself…
WTF was I thinking… This is really f’ing high. The back side is 20’ straight down.

After 5 minutes I was over it…

Pics of said chimney?

I have roof jacks if you don’t mind trashed shingles

is this a 2 leve house? or what? lol how steep is the roof…i will do it go you any rope and and lets see some pictures… i have to paint a chimmey once it only a cape code so wasnt too bad but if its a full 2 stories with a attic will pass lol

I’m not exactly sure what you said.

lol, i was thinking the exact same thing. gl with your search, i fucking hate heights.

Cant be much taller hen my house, mine is three stories and I did the roof on that bitch this summer. Les see a pic, I might be willing to go up there for a half hours worth of extra cash.

I’ll do it for you. Shoot me a PM with your #

lol, well played

You see, it’s not just a fear issue. Reaching the back side of the chimney is actually a problem.

Since these pictures were taken a steel cap was put on the top and all of the bad mortar was repointed, so it’s in good shape now. Just needs some UGL paint.

the part that faces the roof, how high is it from the roof to the top of the chimney in your last pic(on the long side?)

I dunno. 10-15 feet?

Does not look that bad.

How did the guy that repointed it get to the tough side?

Dunno. I wasn’t home. Magic I think. Pretty sure he sat on a flying carpet.

But yeah, it doesn’t look too bad. But when you get up close it gets bigger and higher. :pussy:

If I knew a way to use a roof jack w/o killing your shingles, it would be cake.

man up, get a big ladder and get up there.

or just throw open cans of paint at it.

I did stop by when the masons were at lunch the day they fixed the mortar. They had a couple of 6’ ladder sections that would hook over the point of the roof and then onto each other, if that makes any sense. I still don’t know how they got to the top of the house-side of the chimney though.

That awning over the porch is not load bearing, FYI. It barely supports itself.
