Need a payment method from germany (safe for me)

Got a quick question if anybody knows.

I have a reputable customer in germany buying a $2600 engine from me.

The guy has like 80 feedback on ebay, he buys alot of stuff, and i’m not worried about a scam.

I told him I wouldn’t take a check, but would take western union.

Can someone explain to me how this works, as I’ve never done it.

Basically he sends funds to a western union location and I go pick it up?

Does it go to a specific location, or any grocery store?

I highly doubt a jubilee grocery store or whatever has 2600 in cash sitting there, so how do they pay me?

Once I get the money, there is absolutely no way he can get it back?

I spoke to the guy on the phone yesterday, sent him some photos. We are going to be crating it up for him. I gave him some telephone numbers of exporters to ship the thing, and told him he would have to arrange the details with one of them, and once it left my property it was his responsibility.

He used the first exporter that I recommended, and they are going to pick it up once i get his payment.

I just want to make sure that I get the cash, and there is no way he can cancel a payment or whatever. I’m super super cautious.

Thanks,
Justin

western union type places usualy charge alot, im sure there are better ways

im not sure how western union works, but you could have taken paypal. i accepted payment via paypal from someone in france and it worked fine.

I’ve sold things over ebay to other countries twice, both from South Africa. I gave them my bank information and had them do a direct wire transfer and made sure it settled in my account. Once it was cleared then I sent the stuff. I didn’t have any issues.

I wouldn’t trust PayPal for such a large amount, but Western Union… as long as you’re OK w/ the cut they take (like $ 75 or something?) they should be fine. Give em’ a call. That’s how the overseas scammers get and keep their money anyway, lol.

my transaction was for $1700, everything went smoothly.

um there is def western union scams out there too so be careful, wire transfer ftw.

east or west?
