yes… he DOES want it to be totalled
Yea, Crystal was not at fault but she sucks at driving.
+1 these are the guys what worked on my M when it was backed into, matched the paint perfect and everything’s all nice and lined up.
Great experience too, except the loaner car.
one thing you need to realize is, is that its june, gas is WAY expensive therefore hardly anyone is driving as much as they used to. so when this car comes in with 8k worth of damage the shop is going to do whatever they need to to write it low and keep it there to fix, i mean lets face it, shit work is better than no work . most area bodyshops are very slow and some are even sending employees home mid-week because theres nothing to do. if this happened in the middle of winter your buddy would have already been cut a check. good luck to you guys and i would strongly push to have it totaled out

My car had similar damages, although not quite so many, when I got nailed by a Land Cruiser running a red light last summer.
I had my car taken to Otto Cadillac, and they quoted $4500 in damages.
It seems like more of an expensive shop… so maybe they would quote your friend higher for his damages if he’s trying to get it totalled out?
Then again, a friend’s dad’s Jeep had almost three times that amount of damages (including frame damage) and the insurance still wouldn’t total it out.
I bet this wasn’t any help at all. :lol
The company I work for also operates a body shop. When it comes to insurance companies, the labor/paint rates are lowballed because they will only pay a certain rate. State Farm may very well have a contract with Denooyer and that’s why it ended up there. Regardless, you can have it fixed whereever. Take it somewhere that’s not contracted. The rates will skyrocket. You can also demand that the insurance sends out another adjuster or an independent. Some adjusters are the most idiotic out there. They only write for obvious damage. I can’t begin to tell you how often we have to submit supplements and have the people come back out there to re-examine it because they missed shit. Shops themselves can write an estimate, but it’s worth squat. Insurance will only pay what they write. I find it sooo hard to believe that with that much frame damage, it’s not totaled. Only time we ever had a bent car not totaled was a high end Mercedes.
Truthfully, if you could scan the estimate and send it-I’d love to see it.
Oh, and, they don’t have to be OEM parts. Most of the estimates we get are written for reman’d parts or aftermarket. Insurance companies love places like Keystone and LKQ.
agreed. it’ll never drive exactly the same no matter what.
if you want a great shop go to frank’s in scotia. very professional, and polite guys. they are a bit pricey, but do a+ work.
I forgot to mention, you can pester the insurance co. to total it.
I can also reccomend a great shop, i work there when i have extra time. owner is VERY anal about stuff and does not cut corners. Youll pay but his work is nothing but the best. He usially has jags and maseratis and occasionally a ferarri.

That SS will never handle wright again, sorry but it’s the truth. Also with carfax you will always be up side down with this car!Get the car totaled and don’t rush into getting it fixed.
what happened??
looks like it clipped a curb hard…
That looks like next to no damage considering the car is worth at the minimum $12k and the damage is easilly repaired. The engine crade and axle can be done in a matter of hours and a fender and side skirt wont take long to get painted. If that car was a 87 instead of a 07 it would be totaled.
Great work, but $$$
It twisted the car so bad that the roof crinkled.
Nailed a curb… coming around a corner, swerved to miss a cat, caught the curb instead.
The labor rate is spot on, ive worked at numerous body shops and they have ranged from 42-45hr. The ins company will do everything in their power to steer you into one of their shops that will do a half ass job so that they can save money. Bring it somewhere else of your liking to get another estimate. Stan Horton of Stanita customs is a great guy, i also highly recommend Tony Manscini off of Altamont ave. Ive worked for both of them and they both do phenominal work. An insurance company cannot legally tell you where to get your car fixed. Also, fight for new OEM parts to be put on the car as this will jack the price up into the 75%loss range. Most places will use aftermarket panel/s to save money. Make sure that everything is taken into account to get that car back to FACTORY conditions, alignment, panels, etc. Good luck with everything and have fun with your adventure with the insurance company…they suck dick.
Also, OEM Toyota/Mitsu/Ford/etc… parts > remanufactured shit
Man that sucks. I bet he really wishes right now he caught that cat instead.
Wow that’s an awesome chassis.
You hit a curb and the whole unibody buckles to the point where the roof buckles?
WOW.
