Hey all!
MOST of you don’t know me, so I’ll give you a brief history. In a nutshell, I moved here from VanCity a year ago and brought my car along, obviously. It had all the work done @ my boy’s shop before I moved. Having said that, the car has never seen any shop here in Toronto so I’m obviously out of the loop as to what bodyshops are good in the hood.
Here’s the story. I was driving West down Richmond St (just exiting off DVP) and entering downtown. I was approaching the corner of Richmond and Parliament on the curb-lane and had no intention of slowing down as our direction of traffic already had the green. Some dude in his Corolla cuts from the lane to my left, tries cross my path and sneak into the entrance of the Shell station which is on my right. (I’m guessing he decided last minute that he was running low on fuel, who knows). I instinctively slammed on my brakes, skid a good 10 feet before slamming into him at nearly the same speed I was originally travelling at. Mind you, although it wasn’t raining at the time of the accident (approx 6:30pm yesterday), the ground was still wet and slippery. Luckily a bunch of people were in the area and came to check on us. I got a legit witness who saw everything and was willing to testify so thank goodness for that.
As you can see from the pix, he managed to sneak his a§§ into my lane before my driver-side front-end smacked into his passenger-side rear bumper (also putting a fold in his quarter panel) You can also see how the impact was hard enough to spin his car around to where it’s situated in the pic.
You shoulda seen how many people and rushed over to talk to me. They all felt sorry 'cause they can see how cheesed I was that this gorgeous car is now busted up. I’ll admit, I almost cried right after impact when I saw the hood fold literally right before my eyes. What’s funny was that the majority of the people who came up to me couldn’t even recognize what car it was. I got a lot of fellow tuners who drove by saying “Whoever did that shit to your car is a bastard/should be hung, etc” haha so thanks for the support whoever you all are.
Now that the story’s done, on to the ‘Help!’ part. I need you guys to suggest really good bodyshops that would be able to get my car back to ‘new’. I’m obviously not at fault here so I’m not concerned about price AT ALL, but moreso top-notch work. Before lastnight, it has never made contact with any other vehicle in it’s 12 year life, ever! It was re-sprayed OEM Nissan KH3-Black so color-matching is no issue; however, I have a few areas of concern where some ‘custom’ stuff was done:
- Headlight housing was smoked
- Corner lamp housing was smoked
- OEM Kouki lip MOLDED to bumper (needs to be cut off and remolded to a new one)
- Hood emblem was shaved
How does that work for claiming the ‘custom work’ that will obviously be more expensive? And for the headlight/corner-lamp housings, that’s not something ‘any’ shop can just do.
That pretty much sums up my thread. If there’s anything else that I remember, I’ll throw it in here. So please help! Any input from you gurus would be appreciated…
Here’s what she looked like before she got brucked up:
Drive safe and always remember to shoulder check!
Thanx!
