My friend will soon be doing a DMV road test, but does anyone know how tight of a figure 8 he will have to do?
When I did my BRC with MSF, the figure 8 is very tight (around 4 parking spaces). Need to find out if that is what exactly he has to do for the DMV test.
i did mine in troy and the guy just said “gimme 2 left circles, 2 right circles and then 2 figure eights” the road was at least 20ft wide. just throw it in 2nd gear and idle through it. i did it on my r6 which has the worst turning radius in the world. he should have no problem
He should use his best judgement if he’s practicing them, not too tight and not real spaced out either. They are fairly easy to do. I took mine in Schenectady and I did it right at the beginning of the course where the road is super wide.
I got my lic. last year. I had the whole width of a 2-way side street to do my circles and figure 8. I took the test in Albany. It was raining out and the instructor was mad laid back.
I failed my shit. The doutch guy looked at my KTM SMC and didnt even know it was legal to ride on the road. He yelled at my uncle driving the truck behind me, telling him he was driving too fast. i never went over 23mph, my shit was bogged in 2nd, and he couldnt keep up with me. I did all the stupid tricks for him, and was on my way back, and came to a 2 way stop. A truck 4-5 parking spots down was just pulling out, as I stoped, foot down, waited 2 seconds and pulled out… that truck was coming out. I went through the intersection and 5 seconds later the truck went by. the dick head failed me for not yielding to traffic! The thing was that dumb fucker wouldnt allow my uncle to stay behind me and was half way down the street, and didnt even see the truck parked, and then pull out!
I didnt get a single point off the entire test, untill that shit. I was pissed, and proceded to spin a slow rolling smoking 180, and wheelied off. Fuck amsterdam officials.
Yeah, in retrospect I guess. But safe is safe, I could have stalled, and kick started it and kept going in the time it took the truck to pass by! Ohh well live and learn.
