Need help painting chrome door/window trim

I hate chrome… Id like to paint the door/window trim on the bimmer
Its chrome and i freaking hate it. Id like it black in color.

I wonder if i can just sand it and spray painted ?
Have any of you guys done this before? Whats the best paint to use?

Any input will be appreciated.

Sorry about the shitty pic. I have a shitty $20 camera

alot of people wrap it or vinyl it. or you can get the black ones. i dont see anything wrong with sanding and painting. personally though i think it looks good chrome. goes very well with the color and tails.

I wrapped my E30 trim in flat black vinyl…

If you’re going to use paint:

:heart::heart::heart:

Use the spray paint mentioned above, but make sure you prep the surface very good so you have the best adhesion.

I’m on the same page as him with chrome trim or other fake chrome plastic peices. It just looks soo damn tacky on a car, I hate it too.

nice…
Just ordered 2 cans

Thanks guys

for larger chrome items, muscle car tv on spike tv has an episode that shows ya how to paint chrome wheels. i dont remember how or what they used but it worked for them. so if you happen to catch it on tv or find it online write it all down and make a thread so people can learn…

Paint is the worst way to do this. It is going to chip and peel. You are painting a plastic part. The best way that is going to have long term durability is wrapping it. It is easy to do yourself with a little patience or these days there are shops everywhere that can do it.

Well, I suppose having OEM black parts would be the “best” way, but thats a pain in the arse.

^^ im not planning to keep this car long. Its just my daily
Buying a newer bimmer soon.

edit: I’ll post before and after pics when i get it done

Thanks again gusy

plasticote has flat black spray paint that sticks pretty well…

but dont use a high pressure washer… it will flake off

some audi guys also use plasti dip…

but black vinyl is teh way to go…

id personally remove the trim before doing it

I dont feel like removing the trim. Too much work for me.
Not only that but, I might just end up hitting it with hammer and… ACCIDENTALLY THE WHOLE THING!

EDIT: I might just hire someone to do it for me. Anyone? yoOU… you…yOU?

OKAY

I would do it for you if you went the vinyl route. I did it to my car last week and its very easy as long as you have some patience.
