Need help with a car that's NOT mine for a change...

Figured i’d switch it up a bit and not bitch about my frequent car problems for a change.

My friend has a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire with headlight problems.

Checked fuses in the fuse panel on the driver side of the dash, they’re fine.

Had bulbs replaced.

When starting the car, the daytime running lights turn on for about 3 seconds…then flicker for another few seconds, then turn off completely. Will not turn back on. The high beams on the other hand are working fine.

When it’s not the headlight itself (if the bulb was shot the daytime’s wouldn’t come on at all), and the fuses are all good…what else should i be checking?

the headlight switch could be bad, or the relay for the DRL’s could be bad

or crappy/dirty connections on either

This melissa car?

check the grounds on the drivers side inner fender wall below the headlight. there is 3 ground wires that get f’d up check em.

Not Melissa’s car joe. It’s another friend’s

im gonna guess…relay

edit~highbeams work? edit again. i need to read completely.

having trouble finding a useful diagram/picture online.

where can i find the relay?

all i could dig up was this:

http://www.autozone.com/images/cds/gif/large/0900823d80191eed.gif

but it really does me no good since i have no idea how to read that, or where on the car itself to find the relay.

x2 ALWAYS check grounds, they f-up so much shit

wasnt there a recall on the headlamp relays i know my 99 cavy had one…

not a recall i’m pretty sure it’s just a TSB about it.

i have the lights rigged on my wifes car by jumping … other wise it’s a huge PITA

The entire harness needs to be replaced.

It’s not cheap.
