***Need some more wheel ideas... ***

Cant go wrong with draglites.

poopra, yes those are an the twin spokes are very nice, def up there on the list. but the price is what is scary, big pimp tax

jaysgreen: i like those boyds too. price is not as scary, although, i want bigger than 10" in the rear (i can see that statement in the homo undertones). im sure they could make one, wonder how much though

I dont know why everyone is ripping on HRE’s, they make a quality wheel. They are one of the only manufacter’s that offer hidden hardware or no rivets in a 3 piece custom wheel. They are also one of the most expensive wheels you can buy.

[/quote]

Probably because their finish sucks (flakes off or is discolored on a ton of wheels I’ve seen), their pricing is outrageous, and I’ve seen soooo many bent, cracked, and shattered HRE wheels it makes me wanna puke. Oh yeah, and most sanctioning bodies have banned them from any kind of performance use. They are great wheels if you wanna waste money.

Hahaha.

I was actually looking for another company that makes forged wheels but I found the Boyds. I can’t think of what that other company was, but they had some nice looking wheels and they were much less than HREs.

I’m a big FM/5 fan from Fikse

Only other things I can suggest are the top row at CCW, but I’m sure you’ve already looked at those, 505, 500, 16a.

FM/5s were always a rim that i knew i couldnt go wrong with…

im liking the profil version of that rim now though, only difference being it isnt a stepped dish. either is a very nice rim. i saw a distributer selling the size combo i like for $41 though… EEEESH. and $37 for the same dimensions in 17"… i think i oculd get that price down quite a bit, but still.

i’ve seen those for sale used all the time too, when i wasn’t able to buy them :frowning:

I like FM/5s but I think they look better on euro cars, kinda out of place on a F Body.

I agree HRE’s are overpriced, but I havent seen any premature failures in them on the street. I doubt anyone though anyone has bought a set of HREs to use exculsively at the track so they dont see the same abuse as other wheels. I think they would be fine for general street use which is all most cars ever see.

eh I think they look pretty good…

on the contrary, i think they look right at home

If it fails, cracks (have to battle this on any wheel run hard, but I’ve seen photos of HRE’s with 5000 street miles with cracks), bends like HRE’s do, I wouldnt want it near any performance car, especially not on Buffalo roads. Probably fine on a 7 series or something along those lines. I laughed when someone on 6speed suggested HRE’s for an Ariel Atom :roll2:

HRE Wheels are Current banned from track use by:
IMSA, FOC, POC, PCA, BMWCCA, Viper Comp Coupe series, etc (all regions). Pretty much no one allows them anywhere near performance cars.

It’s funny when your wheels are refered to as “fools fashion” as HRE’s are.

That was NOT from a wrecked car, just a wheel failure.

I was always partial to these…lol

You can’t go wrong with the Fiske Profil (either one). If you are going to spend that kind of money, Fiske is the way to go.
