yes they were higher in nickle content making them hard to ruin

why does everyone on TB.com say thats they are no more higher nickel than any other block? you really think GM made special provisions just for the turbo buick? i mean were talkin about 30,000 cars or so. until i see some lab results i’m doubting that urban legend.

This was debated many times on GNTTYPE, and one of the members had access to a lab and did testing on 109 and earlier blocks.

The analysis proved it was the same metaluragy and nickel content in ALL Buick V-6 blocks.

now the lifter valley of a 109 N/A or turbo block is beefier than that of an earlier 3.8. the 4.1 and 84/85 3.8 are very similar in the lifter valley and the 4.1’s have been proven into the 700 hp range.
