Neonglh's new project - 2006 Evo drag car, "Lana"

Well, after keeping it sneaky since November, I figure it’s time to let the cat out of the bag. The car would only be sneaky for like a day, so I might as well at least share some helpful information to people, and give some back story.

Last year was a great year, I took my basically stock 2003 Evo 8 and with some basic mods, put it in to 4th place for ET and 5th place for MPH on the stock turbo list. It went 11.010 @ 124.55 on 100 octane Delta Sonic gas, with me driving it. The car made 358 whp and 358 ft/lb and weigh’d about 2900 with me in it, give or take a few pounds.

The new car is a 2006 Evo 9 RS, purchased from Brian (most-wanted) in Florida. He bought the car and turned it into his drag car, and set a bunch of records along the way. Here are a few:

Fastest/Quickest stock turbo record - 10.218 @ 133.37
Fastest stock-frame turbo record (fp red) - 9.53 @ 145.05 mph
Fastest Mivec-powered Evo 9 - 9.05 @ 157.32

When he had it, the car was built like crazy. High compression motor, amazing transmission/transfercase, super expensive clutch, lexan windows, the works. The car weigh’d an amazing 2380 or so without him in it. I purchased the car from him as a roller, so it came with a bunch of goodies, but not everything. Some of you may recognize this photo:

That was from it’s maiden voyage up north to me :slight_smile:

Here are a few shots from when it was all assembled:

As you can see, it has a tube-frame front end, with a custom removable bumper, certified 8.50 roll cage with a removable parachute, and a lot of aero goodies. Here is a picture of the cage:

I have a lot to do, and I am starting to put together as many parts as I can, so that I can finish the project this year, and hopefully chase some of Brian’s records. I recently picked up a 44k Evo 9 motor from Chicago, and I am in the process of preparing that for the car. Emery at Street Tuned will definitely be tuning this car, since he did such a great job on the red one. Here is my current list of what I have (I still need to get a complete fuel system, and a few other loose ends):

* rear diff bushings

* Buschur Bushwacker transmission

* Buschur Race intercooler
* Driven Innovations intake manifold
* Hypertune 70mm TB
* Buschur Racing upper intercooler piping

So, there is my new project in a nutshell. I hope to have a constant stream of updates as soon as the weather takes a turn for the better :tup:

:snky: my ass.

I want that seat.

It has the same one for the passenger too! The backseat is completely gone, replaced with a custom aluminum firewall, but I can “comfortably” take one other passenger with me.

The car has headlights again (as shown in the first picture), so it will definitely be able to be driven on the street. It will most likely be a little bit heavier than it was when Brian had it. He had it around 2380 without headlights, and with all 6 lexan windows in. I will probably not run all the lexan, and I have the headlights, but I also don’t have the scatershield or driveshaft loop yet, so it should be still well under 2450. We will see!

Wanna trade for some sparco evos + cash?

Not really, but if I change my mind and decide to sell them (maybe to pick up a set of Kirkeys), I will let you know.

:tup:

Nice race car :tup:

What record are you trying to hit with this?

Thanks man.

Not sure yet, I would love to try to best his stock turbo record, but it’s going to be really hard. What I probably could do is gun for the stock-frame record, which someone beat his time by .0x. The FP Black came out, which is a bigger wheel than the FP red, but still jammed in the stock turbo frame. I would love to see if I can beat that.

Other than that, I just want to go and have fun. It’s totally track-legal, so i can try to compete in some events once I get used to the car, and just have a good time. :tup:

finally…

sick Mark. I heard you bought this car and i am sure you will be able to get those records. Are you building the motor?

:tup: As always.

Nice!!

Good luck with it! You better be going to the Shootout this year!!

Stock block record?
