Weird. I sent back a movie Monday morning. I got an email today at 7am saying they recieved it and waiting for an email that they sent my next one. I usually get the next one thursday when I mail them out monday.
it all depends on US mail… one time I dropped a movie off at the central post office in my town at like 7am and I got and email the same day saying they had shipped another one.
Would it be better to use a different location to mail them out? I usually just send it out from my office in Tonawanda when the mail guy comes around 10-11am so I can see not them having it for a few days but I just am wondering how you guys get it out and a new one sent the same day.
Is it better to go to the post office in the AM and drop it off?
Conspiracy theories abound regarding Netflix turnaround time: does Netflix throttle you if you rent too many movies? Do you get faster service as your renewal date approaches or if you rented few movies the previous month? Are some distribution centers slower than others?
This tool allows users to keep a log of their rentals, not only in terms of when Netlix ships and receives movies, but when the user receives and returns movies. With enough data, we can then create reports that illuminate shipping times, turnaround time, postal latency, Netflix latency, etc. Should be fun!
Netflix flat out told me they were throttling my new releases last week. I had added Wanted to my queue and it had been long wait for a couple days, then a coworker added it to his and it was available now. I removed it from mine, re-added it, still long wait. We both get our movies out of the Rochester shipping center.
So I called and asked what was up with that and they said if you rent lots of new releases they will throttle you. I asked her about how they had just lost millions on a class action suit about this very issue and she had her scripted response ready. They lost the class action because throttling wasn’t in the terms of service, but it’s there now.
I pretty much knew they were throttling me because of my heavy use but I was a little surprised when they flatly admitted it.
this has been their practice and common knowledge for ages…
I have an unproven theory that if you add a new release a long time before it’s released you will get it a lot faster when it comes out since your waiting time is longer than other OG users. So whenever a new movie comes out in the theaters I add it on netflix if I want to see it, but not enough to go see it.
I use it. Love it. I watch a lot of the TV shows though. (Weeds etc.)
However, I like the older movies. I just watched Falling Down and Boiler Room. I’m fine with it. I have HBO and Showtime and Max and all they play is SHIT for movies. Not to mention, they play the same movie ten times a week.
Not to mention, I’ve found a lot of cool independent films that i’ll research online before streaming.
I signed up to Netflix because of streaming to XB360.
For $9/mo I can’t really complain about the selection. I obv would like to see more current stuff, but it does its job quite damned well. Picture qual is better then i expected & the streaming interface has been great.
I like alot of “classic” movies, and have found that we’ve gone to the service ~15 times in the last month that we’ve had it and found something worth watching.
i use netflix all the time. i find a lot of current to old movies all the time… the online thing they just started up recently not too long ago… they keep on adding shit to the online watching all the time. its only a matter of time for them to have a shit load of movies.
