that looks awesome

this will be awsome

Josh, correct me if I’m wrong. This is still a bare patch of land. Nothing in these plans has even begun to take shape. Figure they break ground by May 1st. You’re talking about grading, water runoff, base layer, access roads, and then the multitude of layers to make a good track surface in a matter of a few months? Not to mention you have to let it cure or you end up with the problems Watkins Glen had with it’s back straight when they repaved it in the middle of the season and then after 4 Club Days and IRL the back straight had to be repaved AGAIN because it was ripped up by the cars running on it early. There just doesn’t seem to be a plausible way this could be built and usable before next year. (Ok, maybe some winter days).

The amount of money involved, combined with the amount of parking spaces this place has (2600 IIRC), means you will never see F1, MotoGP, or LMS at this track. Never.

Mike, the parking isn’t a problem and will be explained at the meeting. Parking is definitely NOT a limitation on anything.

The land is currently a small airport. Drainage needs to be improved, but it’s already partially there since it’s needed for the airport. Some base layers (stone, etc.) have already been sourced.

Odds are slim that the road course could be finished this year, but not totally out of the question.

Ok, then I’ll just leave it at the licensing fees required for those events, it’s never going to host anything on the world stage. Some National/Club level stuff could definitely happen though.

siiiick. is this mean i dont have to run into that fat ugly chick at tmp anymore? wooooo hoooooooo

this locations is actually not bad. At first I thought this was at the airport in st. catharines, which would never get approved since its so close to the city and no one would put up with the noise.

But for the people from Toronto, Cayuga and/or St Thomas is still closer.

st thomas isnt closer… cayuga is but its harder to get to… this is all highway

Also, you can’t really compare this track to cayuga… this track can handle professional racing… cayuga cant

ugh! I have ticekts to the sabres game wednesday or I would be in attendance for this! I’m super excited, I was hearing rumors of this for over a year!

I am very excited about this! For those of us in Buffalo, a track that close, is great news. And 3.5 miles, that is very long, unfortunately not much in the way of elevation changes I suspect

here is a link to the location on Sodom Rd, Niagara Falls Airport

FlatBlak, It’s all in the first post already… even the elevation change

maybe your right about the F1 and Moto GP bit but, Le Man prototypes have run at mosport(LMP 1) so why couldn’t they run at this proposed track. I already read somewhere in the first couple of paragraphs that this track will be built to F1 specifications.

This track, as much as I want to see it succeed, will NEVER get an FIA Grade 1 Certification. There are less than 28 tracks world wide which currently have that level, this will NOT be one of them, EVER. There are a few problems which will stop that. Mosport doesn’t even carry a Grade 2 certification. Mosport gets an ALMS race because it makes for great TV viewing, has the facilities to host a race of the caliber and has F1 and various other sports car bits of history associated with it. I could go into the money involved and technical specifications but it’s a bit boring. Feel free to spend a bit of time on FIA.com and some other key websites to further your education.

Damn, I’d be there if I didn’t have to work till 5. I wouldn’t be able to make it there by 6…

i’d make a point of not arguing with MPD47 about anything… at all… ever… unless you’re me.

i missed this… veryyyy cool
