Network help...I think

Ok here is my problem…

I have a computer in my room and one downstairs that my family uses. They are both connected via either to our dsl hub. The computer down stairs is connected to our printer and I’d like to be able to print off mine. How is this possible if it is at all…let me know guys!! By the way they are both running Xp

Thanks!

are the 2 computers connected to a router via ethernet as well as the dsl to the router? or some other configuration?

Depending on the router you can use your printer u just have to share it…or u can get a printer switch…my new d-link router allows me to share it over the network and print from my laptop to my sisters printer on her desktop

its most likely a dsl modem with a built in router.

and seriously man, FIRST hit on google for “xp printer sharing” http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/expert/honeycutt_july2.mspx

^^^ xp printer sharing, easy.

Thanks guys…its just a dsl router…I don’t know that much about computers and my cousin tried explaining it to me but it didn’t click and I couldn’t figure it out. I’ll try what that site says thanks.

You just have to enable print sharing on the one computer…

Enable file and print sharing on both computes and make sure that that both are on the same workgroup.
